I'm excited! Leaving my hometown in Fall to go to school in Green Bay - the campus has pool tables in the club and I plan on getting a pass for unlimited play so my game should get worlds better as I'm able to play more and more.

Sorry Dr. Dave - if I had known beforehand that you were a CSU professor that might've influenced my decision lol.

Anybody from AZB shoot any pool in Green Bay or Madison? ;)

Congrats! I'm down in the Madison area and play at the Brass Ring. I'm a beginner so not going to give you any competition but if you're ever in the area let me know.

At SDSU, I would study between innings or games, or even just watching. There were about a dozen members of the unofficial billiards club that met everyday in the game room.

I am in the Madison area always looking for shooting buddies! That being said Green Bay is quite a drive. Congrats on the next leg of your life journey!

Awesome!

That's great dude, wish you the best of luck. Wish my college had pool tables in them! Time for a transfer...

I love the game of pool, but my advice to you is put pool on the back burner for 4 years or so and maximize your educational opportunities. Bum is a word that describes a good pool player with no education or culture. I wish you the very best but the choice is yours.

I know studying is important - I'm a psych major and nothing is distracting me from that path.

I'm simply stating that in my free time I'll have access to a pool table so I can play more.

Psych is my career, pool is my hobby - that's clear in my head.

Celebrate in style

We are going to celebrate in style when we are at the Chicago get together in a couple of weeks. An ice cold beer for me and a tall root beer for you. Pool time and food on me that night. Makes our little event just a little better with this great news.

See you in a couple of weeks

There have been a lot of great players come from Wisconsin, have a great time playing but just remember why you are there.
Good luck.

No pool, no education?

Believe it or not there are quite a few high level players with college degrees, who played while attending school. Nick Varner would be one example.

I myself played all during my college years (age 36-41) and actually won a number of tournaments, including winning two free trips to Vegas for national amateur events.

I am in between Madison and Green Bay.
As far as the pool tournament listings that were posted some of those cities/towns are not very close together. It would probably be quicker heading to Chicago. The Carom Room in Beloit maybe 15% (30 miles) less than the drive time to Chicago at the very most for me.

I lived in Fond du Lac in 1992 & 93. At that time, there was no organized leagues near by. Some people thought I was crazy with the explanation of how the Valley league was set up.
I ended up playing 60 miles away in a Valley league at Two Rivers on the shore of Lake Michigan. I was often working in Green Bay on league day, so would stop in earlier and spend the afternoon and evening at the bar on the Fridays that I played.

There was a nice pool hall in Osh Kosh that had weekly tournament on the west side.

Wow, that is surprising. There is a lot of league play in Fond Du Lac now. Quite a few of the state tournament winners play in Fond Du Lac. I think in a small Sunday nite league we have 3 or 4 previous state champs.

My bad fellas - I actually meant Appleton, Wisconsin.

But! My buddy usually takes semi-weekly trips to Madison to hang out with friends so I'll be around the pool scene on a semi-regular basis.

I'd love to get in contact with all the Green Bay shooters =P Sounds like I'll be playing with a lot of great shots.

Alright guys -

I figured I'd revive an older post of mine than create a new one. I got to Green Bay today and played a few racks at the University - I move in to my dorm room on the 28th and until then I'm at a hotel. Anyway, from today onward for a few months I'll be in Green Bay and I'd love to meet up with some fellow players.

Am also looking into joining a league out here (already know of a few but if somebody wants to mention a league out here feel free to do so).

Get out from behind the keyboard and let's shoot some people sometime! Where are all the Green Bay shooters at???
