2014 World 9-Ball Championship

elmer haya just beat fellow filipino johann chua. both these players rose from the qualifying stages. now haya moves forward to the semis.

WOW!!!!! YU had the 7 8 9 on the table. He made the 7 and ran into the 9 and the 9 locked up against the 8. Yu had to kick at it and he sold out. Shane is down 10-8 and he just broke and has a clear shot on the one.

Yu is a great player but he has gotten very very lucky in the match. Alot of rolls went his way. He just had to jump the ball, double kissed it and got safe. Shane had to jump and the cue got kicked in. Yu runs out for the win.

So then you're saying that Nick Varner shouldn't be credited with a world championship even though he won THE WPA world 9-ball championship?
NO I am not. I watched Nick win it and he played great to lift the title
How can you have 2 world champions in the same year?
Why not? World 9 Ball Champion and World Professional Pool Champion. What's the problem?

Back in the day when 14.1 was the only world championship tournaments, there were multiple champions in a year.

Yu Lung wins 11-8 in what is a deceiving score, was not that close.

Agreed. This was a thrashing. YL Chang was the better player by far. Even Shane's many AZB apologists will struggle to come up with an excuse for this loss. Of course, losing to the hottest player on the planet is no shame.

I'm more inclined to take a positive view of things. Shane was 5th in the WPA China Open and 5th in the WPA World 9-ball Championships. Those are encouraging results that bode well for Shane in the future against these brutally tough WPA fields.

11-8 Yu Lung. Shane fought back like the champion he is. No shame in that.

JoeyA

Correct. It all took toll on him trying to comeback against opponent on hill for so many racks and opponent has stolen 3 of his breaks. Tough. at least as of now he has done better than USA soccer team which just qualified for last 16.. And if I am not mistaken Shane quarterfinal result this year is his best so far and an improvement. Next year he just has to do better.
:)
