White on white crime!

Usually, white on white in a cue *is* a bit of a crime. As most of the cue enthusiasts know, light colored material against light colored material is tough to do cleanly without showing (bad) glue lines.

I try and push the limits on this sort of thing for a challenge. I have done this ring design before, but this might be my best results yet. The white is juma. The black in the slotted ring is ebony. This is the joint of the shaft. The butt has the same ringwork throughout, including the additional rings for a segmented handle. The cue is going to Wild8Bill9.

Also...the glue used was West System 105/207 (not even the clear formula)...no white tinting. Pic is taken straight off the router.

Thanks for looking.

Now that is just PIMPIN'...What combination of tooling did you use?

You have every right to be proud. Tommy D.

great build

The rest of the woods in the cue work well with the rings also. Good job Kelly.

Thanks everyone!

Juma can be tricky for rings, especially thin ones. I have used both parting tools and a carbide slitting saw (sold by KJ) to part off the rings.

I blow air right on the cutter for both methods. Juma can't stand the heat and will both warp and calsify (for lack of a better word) if it gets hot. The router has to be set up as perfectly as possible to get away with the carbide slitting saw because there is no relief ground on them. Prepping the rings and knowing what to look for when you (only) think they are ready is critical also. Time and labor intensive these are...
