How to add weight to a Pred cue.

Hey I know that work....Primitive Pete. What a hack job !
He re-tipped that ( the owner's second Pred shaft ).

Looks like it after repairman created that big hole and hand drill
grooves.
That white sleeve is barely hanging on to what's left of the black
sleeve.
What do you do at this point?
You do nothing other than what you were asked to do, clean the wrap and install a tip.
You go looking for things and you're going to find some. Not your job.
You could inform the client of what you've found but he's likely already aware.
If you weren't asked to fix it, don't.
Cans of worms generally contain more than worms.

I removed a leather wrap on a Pred cue one time to replace it.
It was 2MM thick.
I had to glue one leather to a thick sample leather to fit the groove.
Yeah, the 'Lux' wrap and the rubber wrap are particularly thick, .045-.060".
The first time I did one I did a dbl. wrap like you. Didn't like it even while I was doing it.
Credit to Mike Webb for getting me squared away on doing a wood veneer in the groove.
It's a little bit of work but I much prefer the results.
I do it with epoxy and the veneer becomes part of the wood handle.
Veneers come in various thickness so you can dial-in your depth pretty accurately.
Imagine the next installer's surprise when he pulls off my wrap and finds a Rosewood handle.
After a few of them, you can pretty much hide the seam fairly convincingly.

Linen wrap, epoxy, more epoxy then the leather....
