CSI 10 ball

It's 8-6 now.

Whatever happens here, it's Efren vs. Cheng next on the TV table.

Chang wins 9-6 . Darren threw the towel when Chang was about to shoot the 10

Next match is Efren v Morra. Cheng is in another group. Other match in same group as Efren is Ralf vs little Ko

Man, that guys talks A LOT ... and WAY over-analyze everything. I'm between rock and the hard place as i don't want to watch it in mute. I want to hear the table, balls hitting but these announcers are talking way too much, for my taste.

I'm sure they are way underpaid and should be appreciated more but I wish we have pool version of Jim Nantz and Ken Venturi.

He talked right over Billy I the first night. Billy was the star in that booth...not Ken. Johnnyt

Kenny has a wealth of knowledge, but he's a blabbermouth. I spent about 10min at MC with him in the casino, and when I walked away, I was dizzy..... they need someone like Jay in booth.;)

I enjoy Jay Helfert, Jim Wyche, Mark Wilson & Billy I. Billy Gibbs is pretty good too.Only think he does Accu Stats though.

Ken is fine. Though just now it was bizarre when Ken was ranting continuously that Darren was not getting rolls and sounded bit like Earl . I mean isn't bad rolls part of the game? We don't hear Efren complaining about bad rolls.
It is the other guy, Bobby who is the joker and seems to be in a daze .. asking silly stuff like are they playing 4 matches in group stage when there are 4 players in each group- Ya, each player also has to play 4th match against ghost

They need some of the players to stop in for a couple racks as well...... Even if it's broken english, I would love to hear some of their comments. I know Shaw, Mike and Cory would Ken a run for his money.

That was one of the things I really liked about the World 9-ball championship stream (among other things), no commentary at all. You could just sit and watch and listen to the game and not have to listen to some guy trying to explain what does not need to be explained.

Mute is a non-option because you lose the sound of the game.

Commentary in pool is a waste of money and I would rather have it ditched all together. My non-pool playing friends have often also been of the opinion that the commentary in pool is one of the things that is the most "amateurish" in the presentation of pro pool and one of the things that makes the whole thing come off poorly.

Pool could take a hint from snooker on this, even in big events the commentary is quite limited, the commentators spend much of their time silent and let the viewer simply watch and hear the sounds of the game. Snooker commentators certainly do "NOT" sit and yammer on about irrelevant goofy musings and if they did they would not be commentating on snooker broadcasts for long. Why pool promoters have gotten the idea that this is OK and let it continue is beyond me.

IMHO, Jay has probably best overall knowledge in terms of on table technical knowledge, off table knowledge of global game/players worldwide. Jim has great on table knowledge but bit lacking off table stuff
Mark Wilson is impressive. First heard him recently commentate recently. I like his scouting assessment of players and his technical knowledge. He is terrific choice to lead Mosconi Cup
Have not heard of Billy I and Gibbs commentate :D

I'd prefer if it's just cotton. Kenny tries to be a know it all. He finishes everyones points. He was even doing it to Billy on the SVB Challenge match.. He is a great tournament director..

I agree with that 100%. Irritates me to no end. That is what sets the Matchroom events apart from the streams. I know challenge matches etc. are often far longer but sometimes less is more:smile:

I just wish someone would do some homework if they know they are going to commentate & make some notes to be able to speak about the players past accomplishments etc. or know the structure of the tournament they are commentating.

I think if Kenny would say about 50% less words he'd be good. Cotton should be 100% funny color and not talk about anything remotely close to analysis. Kenny should defer to Billy. I'd bet Billy is irritated as well..
