Little Ko wins 8-Ball !!! Big KO ripped off, Pool hangs it's head

WOW....Mark did you realize you showed your true colors?

Not only is it true, it was not the first time either. The same threat was uttered when they didn't want to do the mandatory FREE lessons for hour a day, after paying entry fee and flight to attend this 'invitational'.

Overall, it was a badly run event and really showed Mark and CSI's true colors. The threat of money was used on more then the Taiwanese, there were those involved in the broadcast staff that didn't like the decision either and received similar threats. Even if this event were to ever happen again, without some major changes to the format/money, at least half the field here will likely not be back.

At this point, its all over and the results speak for themselves. Not even the last minute 'no jump cue' rule could stop big and little ko from steamrolling the 10 ball event. And little ko showed a lot of heart to not get distracted and play near perfect pool to win the 8 ball finals. Despite everything, we did get to witness some great pool.

WOW....Mark did you realize you showed your true colors?

Maybe his medication or lack of oxygen is affecting his judgment?

I don't know? Never seen or heard of his true colors being so negative til this.

**When the singles players forfeited as you wrote above were byes issued or were other players that were already eliminated brought back to fill those voids ? LOL :boring2:

When the team was kicked out of the open event --- the last team they beat were brought back in to play.

don't care the y were DQ'd, sorry proves nothing.
But didn't expect much sense from you anyway. :boring2:

Why are your replies always some 8th grade intelligence demeaning response?

Are you that unsure of yourself that you have to lower it to some side handed attempt at an insult?

It is actually a pathetic trait of you and your cronies.

Try to build up your confidence before you attempt to reply to me again.

I try to speak on a level you'll understand.
If you inflate your EGO anymore there will be danger of an explosion.

You didn't follow my last suggestion to you.

Go post some thread wishing happy birthday for all of us to enjoy.

While your estimate of Watchez's ego is in the ballpark...:D

Your refusal to see any angle of what occurred in any other light other than the one you've adamantly expressed many times, puts you squarely in the dogmatic camp,,IMHO, that is.

Let me ask you this, if Mark had just issued Ko a bye, would there be a big to do
about it. I think not. What do you think ?

I don't possess every bit of knowledge that I would need to express an informed opinion on Mark's actions. I do think less would have been said if Ko got the bye.

As far as Ko being put in a bad position, I don't see it. He was scheduled to play the winner of Ralf's group, and instead had to play the second place finisher in that group. You could say it was an easier match in that respect. Things don't always go perfectly in this world and Ko, I'm sure has faced bigger adversities than what happened here. The Ko's did very well for themselves, and they earned it with stellar play. But if they make a decision not to return because SVB was substitued for Ralf, then I think they are overreacting.

If Ko was actually threatened with loss of winnings if he did not play, that's another story. I'm hoping that was not the case.

Once the huggers figured out that in 1917 a badminton player forfeited his match because he had a hang nail and they advanced a eliminated player from his bracket ,, the screaming of bloody blue murder would be unstoppable

To be 100% honest. Had they issued Ko a bye and canceled the semifinal match, I would have been really pissed. Not because I felt some great injustice had been done. But for the simple fact that I had a) paid for that Friday's PPV and b) raced home from work specifically to watch those semifinal and final matches.

Furthermore, I probably would have refrained from buying any more Pool related PPV's until I felt that pool had gotten its act together. This would have been just another example of unprofessional behavior by a player (Ralf) and a decision by the TD (MG) that left the customer (me) out to dry.

And this was most likely part of Mark's reasoning when he made his decision.

Or the PPV & live audience would have screamed bloody murder and insisted on full refunds after...

a) first sitting around for an hour or so wondering wtf was going on, and then
b) being treated to a Corey trick shot show as consolation

You've been yelling an awful lot lately.

You're suggesting that it be done for the greater good? What greater than to potentially upset one participant by not allowing Ralf to hose 3 others that were competing for that spot. Heck, you could even call it 4 others if considering the fact somebody that somebody willing and able to continue in the tournament could've had his spot originally.

So you don't care if Ko was screwed as long as you got to see an extra match
even if it was a tainted one ? I have a hard time understanding the way you think.

He wasn't screwed. He got to play the second-best player out of the group rather than the best. The other players would have been screwed if one guy got to fly through the tournament without playing all of the matches he was supposed to play. THAT would have been unfair as well.

I cannot help with that. However, I will offer you the courtesy of copying and pasting stuff I've written before.

I think you have a very strong and unyielding opinion on how a tournament should be conducted...nothing wrong with that. However, I have a different view. In my opinion, when running a tournament you should:

1. Follow the rules you wrote - whether it's in the form of a contract, agreement, press release, or what have you.

2. In the absence of anything written, follow what was verbally expressed.

3. In the absence of (1) or (2), follow precedent.

The reality is, for the CSI invitationals, I would be willing to bet that there was nothing either written or verbally expressed that covered what would happen if a group winner was unable to advance into the semifinal round. So, in these cases, people will generally follow precedent.

Of course there have been numerous examples of when a player forfeits a match and the tournament awards a bye. However, as many on this forum -including myself- believe, the fact that this particular forfeit occurred during the transition between the round-robin and the knockout stage constituted a materially significant change in circumstances.

And, as you and I seem to agree, there have been very few -if any- instances when a team/player voluntarily forfeited after qualifying out of a round robin stage. Therefore, there is little if any precedent to guide us.

Therefore, what does a TD do in this circumstance? He makes a decision that attempts to weigh the interests of all parties concerned...the players, the audience, and of course the integrity of the game itself. And he has perhaps an hour to do this.

Did he make the right decision? We'll have agree to disagree...for now.

Again not unfair! Those two toastie and little ko had the same probability of drawing Ralph and getting the bye. so again, they were not harmed because they had the same probability of having drawn Ralph and gotten the bye.

Or they could have went straight to the finals ,,,would have been no more than a 7th inning rainout or a shortened NASCAR race , happens all the time

Or hold a gun to a players head and force him to play and get a match where a players not capable of giving his best ,, or better yet ,,,,,won't
