JB Cases

well, it's time to come up with the perfect straps and pads. Although we sold a LOT of cases at the BCA show we could have sold a lot more if we had had more backpack straps and even better straps.

Ours are decent but I think we can do much better. I went to Bass Pro Shops and looked at their assortment and there are some nice ones.

I think that the perfect strap isn't going to be one strap. I think it's going to be a choice of them with options from which you can build your perfect strap.

What would you like to see us do in straps? Keep it clean or via PM if you have strap thoughts that don't pertain to cue cases...... :-)

I think the current straps are good quality and comfortable ... of course the pads could always be bigger and thicker to become more comfortable.

What I would recommend is the ability to make the strap longer .. an adjustable strap.

Here's why ... If someone wants to carry the case back-pack style all they need do is connect two straps to the D rings on the back of the case.

This is not possible with your current straps as they are too short.

Adjustable straps will make every case you sell pack-pack capable, providing a lot of bang for the manufacturing buck.

I like to talk about form and function.

I think a good strap would be the ability to adjust "on-the-go". Too many times I have to fiddle with the god damn strap and when I go inside, I have to readjust for carry and readjust it for walking to the car. Keep that in mind for your customers.

You already have the perfect strap to me.

When I sell my Sugartree I'll be sending you some of the $ for my next case.

Just no more lid handle/side hande. Just that perfect shoulder strap. Love it.

I would like to have the option to easily remove the strap. With my ultimate rugged, I don't have that option.

One thing I have been thinking about is swapping out the leather strap on my case for something in nylon that is easier to adjust when I want to shoulder the case... I have yet to unsnap and adjust the leather one because I don't want to cause any wear to it... The Shoulder strap on my old justis is more or less worn completely out and I didn't want to do the same to the new case....

This is the style I am looking at....

The perfect pad don't slip, and is like the Domke Photojournalist Shoulder Pad. It is nit flare it is wedge shaped.

Domke Shoulder Pad can be found on a google search. Check it out.

if you please, extra length for people over 5' 9".
i am not big but i am almost tall, 6' 1 1/2",
always, no matter whhat item, strap comes up short.

There are two straps that I love - One is for golf and the other for photography.

The golf one is the one on my Ping hoofer II bag.

This image kind of shows them:
https://shop.golfusa.com/Assets/DescriptionImages/Ping/hoofer14d.jpg?ts=104636 Basically one strap is a little longer than the other and you can carry it just by the long strap over the shoulder or you can throw your other arm through the second strap to carry it like a backpack. Excellent design.

The second strap that I love is a camera strap and it's the black rapid strap. What I like about it is it's made to go across the chest instead of just on the shoulder of the side the bag/case/camera is on. And the clamp to hold the camera slides along the strap to give it movement to a degree. There are stops so your camera can't go too far. I think this would be handy if you had a cue case because you could slide the case up to take cues out, get chalk out, whatever, without taking the strap off and while the case is still attached to it. So you could pull it up, open it, take out your cue, put it together, grab whatever else you need, close the case, set your cue on the table or wherever and then set your case down. So you're essentially hands free and have everything you need there instead of having to set your case on the table or lean it against he wall and keep setting it down and picking it up to get the next thing.

I'm always worried that in the commotion while you're both getting ready for a match (especially when all the league players show up at once) that my case is in the way or will get knocked over while it's open etc...

Here is a link to that strap:

If you look at the second to the last picture you can see the guy using it where he's holding the camera up but it's still attached and the strap is still on.

IMO the shoulder pad should be attached to the strap instead of just sliding over it. The pad on my rugged is always sliding down and I have to move it back up to the top before putting the case over my shoulder. Another thing is that the shoulder pad should be designed to go to the very end of the strap and as close to the back of the case as possible. I often find with the rugged strap that the metal hook piece at the top of the strap digs into my shoulder because the pad doesn't reach back far enough. The strap on my poison soft case was very comfortable, but then the vinyl on the top side of the pad began to rip.

I need a case that has two outer "flaps" butterfly style, that when closed, hides the zip or buckles to open the cue storage area. The flaps actually serve a dual purpose; on one flap I can slide an iPad in to display a score keeping app while playing , and the other flap has a freezable insert in a pouch larger enough to hold my favorite bottle of adult refreshment.

The premium model would also have small rechargeable Bluetooth speakers installed in the flaps as well, so you could listen to music or use the case as a speaker phone. (Would come in handy for a conference call or lessons via phone)

The strap should be padded with a no slip surface and would retract into the case itself when not needed.

Does this case also have a flux capacitor?

I think Rodney Dangerfield had early version of that in Caddyshack.

The strap/pad on my ultimate rugged is good but not quite perfect. I live the non-slip material, that works fantastic. Really the only problem is the the pad slides down and can't go all the way up to the top of the strap because of the attachment hardware. I'd like a fixed position pad (like whitten does) positioned all the way at the very top where it meets the case. It should have a small extension piece that goes under the mounting hardware so it touches the case body completely. With that I tink it would be the perfect single strap setup.

I'm sure backpack straps would require something different, I don't have have any real need for dual straps for how I use my case these days.

What if the padding on the strap was memory foam or something similar? Guitar straps would also work perfectly!!!

So let me ask this. What is the opinion of nylon straps with a nice shoulder pad on a leather case vs a leather strap?
