Who is the best 1 pocket teacher?

Yeah Wayne, you newbie, just because you played Efren, Rafael M, Santos Sambajon, Jose Parica, One Pocket Rich, etc etc even and came out winner many times. Doesn't mean you know a darn thing about the game. Your excessiveness to give up weight like 12/5 and the breaks to many straight shooters who wouldn't play you unless they had the lock just shows your knowledge of the game itself. Its no wonder you'd be impressed by the likes of Danny D.

Look you "idiots", Danny is in the later stages of his career. He is a HOF'er. A world champion and a road warrior many times over. He has more knowledge in his left nut than many of you ever will. He'll be at the Derby. You got any complaints he is open to hearing it. But give the man some respect.

You play a great game Lenny.
I miss our battles bud.
When you catch that gear , not many people want to be fighting against it.

Thanks bud. I am still on the improve, my mind is good for the game but execution needs more work. Hope you are doing well.

Some people apparently live to disrespect others those who have traveled farther and higher than they have and wear that disrespect as badge of pride.

Thank you for the respect you show "CHAMPION", Danny DiLiberto!

With all due respect, a player of Wayne's caliber is only giving up 12-5 to someone who is pretty helpless at 1pocket.

DD has a ton of credentials. Is he the best today? No longer. Nothing wrong with that -- however that is an opinion formed based upon listening to his analysis of table layouts on dozens of tapes. He is often times wrong, stuck in the past.

No Lou, Wayne has actually given up huge weight to guys that are pretty accomplished in their own right. He does this to challenge himself and puts himself under inordinate pressure. This is how he has been able to compete with many pros and road players.

I understand you might have your criticism of Danny. No one is beyond criticism. And I am prejudiced based on my long friendship with him. But for all the things that he has accomplished and still does today we should give him more than a kick in the butt out the door. He is trying to survive like any of us. And in the twilight of his career we should be trying to support his efforts and not just hammer him into the grave. Not saying you are but there are those that do. And if one does not wish to support this gentleman of the game they should just remain respectful and neutral.

There are those that still say he is top drawer. Pat Fleming seems to think so and so does Billy I. I think he reads a rack better than anyone. His knowledge of gambling and making games is things many can benefit from. If people disagree it is their right. But like you said no one disagrees about his accomplishments and what he has given to the game.

Who do you think you are? You can't play, you just talk about others. Nobody said DD can't help novices and newcomers to the game.

Yeah, Wayne plays real good, that's why he writes that he learned from DD while watching him give lessons.

It's never fun watching your heroes get old but they do and there's no point in defending them. DD is so out of touch with 1 pocket that it's not even funny.

You two guys can bark at me all you want but you still know that I'm right.

P.S. I never knocked his knowledge of the game, I knocked his knowledge of the game based on his commentary. Why don't you try to discern the difference?

It takes a lot of hours to become a great teacher and Danny has logged in these hours

I know for a fact that Danny D. is the one that is sought out by the greatest minds in pool. This is no exaggeration, and despite "commentary" (which has very little to do with actually teaching) Danny is still one of the keenest minds in the game of One Pocket today.
diliberto_hof_s.jpg

Allen Hopkins is in this elite league, and so is Nick Varner for that matter. Billy "Cardone" is another one that could be a teacher of the game, but chooses not to be.

It takes a lot of hours to become a great teacher and Danny has logged in these hours. I know several of my closest friends that have spent several full days with him (in confidence). The problem with those of us that train seasoned gamblers is they never want us to divulge their identities. This still doesn't take away from the fact that they are trained and some of us know the "inside scoop" on who, what, where and why. 'The Game is the Teacher'

You are correct. I would take Danny D. as a coach and be able to play even with anyone.

This is one of the silliest things you've ever written on this forum and you've written quite a few.

If you absolutely must shoot the shot that DD tells you to shoot I will put up a player in the box against you, but you must shoot what DD tells you to shoot.

Why don't you quit acting like a 1 pocket player already? There are real ones out there that would eat you alive.

ONB

how do you like them apples.....you do like apples don't you? LoL

You're a bitter old fart aren't you. :rotflmao:

I said Danny could be my coach and I'd play anyone in the United States. We all know that gaff about shooting exactly what the coach says to shoot.....that's a farce and everyone knows it.

I have news for you "Mr. Crabby", there's no one that can "eat me alive" playing any game. I'll play you even and use a jump stick, how do you like them apples.....you do like apples don't you? LoL

You do not have a single clue as to my age.

I don't know anything about why shooting what your much more knowledgeable and respected coach told you to shoot would be a "gaff game". I thought that with your high praise of his ability to transfer his knowledge to you, you would jump at the chance to take my money.

I guess you don't think as much of his knowledge as you pretend here.

The only thing anyone here knows is that you are backing down again.

put up $25. - and no "air barrels" old man.

We all know you don't have any money....or any sense for that matter. LMAO

I'll play Efren if he shoots what you tell him to shoot....you can bet your $5 a game, but you'll have to put up $25. - and no "air barrels" old man. You can also get 10/6 playing one pocket, but you have to put up $100. (don't tell me I'm high rolling you again). :D

So you've already backed down from your "I'll play anyone with DD coaching me" and you've tried to change it to "I'll play Efren if you coach him".

You are so easy to see through, except for your adoring legions of fans here.

Let me know when you want to back up what you originally wrote.

Keone, I mean no disrespect to DD. He is a champion, no doubt. And I am not in any way suggesting he be booted out any door.

My opinion is only that his thinking on 1pocket, as demonstrated by his commentary, is not as deep as that of other players. That's it.

Maybe you thought I was referring to you when I said someone was an idiot. I was referring to someone else sorry if you figured it referred to you.

Who do I think I am? That's the only thing that counts to me. Who I think I am. And who my family thinks I am. Certainly what you think and others is irrelevant.

But since you asked Ill tell you. No Im not a pro player. But in my chosen profession I work with the top in my field. Not only in my city, or state, or region, or nationally. But internationally. Having had a career for over 40 years with the best of my ilk. So I think if I see quality I know it. At least I don't think you have to be Mika or John Schmidt to have an opinion here. Or is that your criteria?

Ill stand by my statement that based on my own experience, Danny Diliberto is a top one pocket teacher. You don't like his commentary don't buy his vids. You certainly have the option to tell him yourself. He'll be at Turning Stone, at the US Open, at the Accu-stats 8 ball Make It Happen, and at the Derby.

I understand. And you have a right to that opinion. Like I said Danny is also a personal friend so I am prejudiced. He has taught me a lot not only about the game but about myself. . The one thing he doesn't lack is confidence and we all need that in our lives. He excels in it an his actions have proven that his confidence is based on ability. He can instill that in ones game and I think that is a big plus. Before Jeannette Lee went to the Derby and did all those late nite cash games she took an intense course with Danny on one pocket and that year won the Louis Roberts Action title in 2010.

Im reminded of Doyle Brunson. If you know poker, he wrote the bible of Poker, The Super System. Won many many titles and cash games. Since then the book is considered outdated and Doyle himself is not the player he once was. With the new heavies of poker like Daniel Negreaneau, Phil Ivey, Patrick Antonius, Antonio Esfandiari, etc Doyle is not looking to compete in that arena. However he is shown the utmost respect by the community. Because he paved a way for all of them and they own him a great deal.

But more so Doyle has amassed a fortune and is not to be messed with in terms of being able to roll with the highest. Danny is a pool player. And what pool player is rolling in the millions? Sorry but our game doesn't provide that. Danny in his later years is trying to make it day by day. Wether he's called on to give a lesson or to commentate on a vid its his daily living. I say he deserves it and more. If you don't like it that's your right. But its a mans life we are talking about.

Some of you guys have no clue, some of you guys just believe what you want to believe. Some of you know your stuff.

When I was at Sand Castle I had Danny telling me one thing and Billy I. telling me another. Scott Frost or SVB would have probably given me other suggestions.

Experience is the best teacher. I've taken a little from a lot of different players. You can't expect to play like Danny, Scott, Efren, etc, etc.

Who's the best....... None of them. Combined they are all the best. Take some lessons from all of them, but only if you have solid fundamentals. If your not a solid player start with Mark Wilson or another instructor that can really help your game. Then go see several of those 1P champions and a few books and tapes.
