Emily duddy pro or no

Personally I think she is a nice young woman, fairly attractive and probably a low to mid level women's pro player. Should she be allowed in the amateur side of this event, I think so. The match I just saw she torched a guy that could not make two balls in a row. The score was 7 - 1 but Emily did not play spectacular either.. JMO

Mike D. plays snookers Wed. tourney when he's home. How would you like to face him.

I see this happen a lot in a poker forum I frequent. People (guys and girls) market and sell themselves as pros when some are definitely not pro material. There is no set standard for the term so it is used more loosely than it should, but I don't get all butthurt about it. It has nothing to do with me, life goes on, and I make my own sandwiches.

Curious, why start a thread like this ?

She is rated B+ in the various mixed tournaments she enters and you say you agree. Why do you care so much about what she lists herself on her facebook or what the WPBA has her ranked ? She enters WPBA tournaments, earns points which is how the WPBA ranking is established.

Do you have issues with other women ranked on the WPBA ? Should the WPBA kick out women who have a mixed tournament skill level rating below pro, below open +, below open, below A, etc. ?

If her mixed tournament ranking is accurate at B/B+, what is the problem with her entering an amateur tournament ?

Tap, tap, tap.

This deceased equine gets flogged every now and again. Guess it was time in the rotation, JB, CJ, chalk, APA, plenty of repeat gripe threads to get to in the rotation, Emily's turn now apparently.

Ignoring the fact that the WPBA is pretty much a goner in most respects, I personally feel Emily should not be allowed to play in amateur events. This has nothing to do with her looks or how she plays, it is about actual facts.

Regardless of how nonexistent the WPBA comes across as, it technically is still up & running. We all know it represents "professional" women pool players. Whether they deserve the title or not is irrelevant as either they are ranked pros or they are not. Let us not also forget she has been invited & played in professional WPA sanctioned events overseas. Oh by the way she is ranked on their list for women as well (albeit 78 but still ranked).

With all of that in mind regardless of how we feel about her quality of play as compared to other professional women players, she by definition & actual events is a pro pool player. So she should not be allowed to play on the amateur side of any event period.

OK

so she is currently playing the eastern states in the amature side as a B+ player. im going to agree she is rated correctly. my problem here is she markets herself on facebook as a pro. she is a member of the WPBA a profesional organization. she is ranked 21 in the world as a pro player. Tony came into the booth and described that pros have levels and she is a different kind of pro.
I GET IT SHE IS A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN SHE CAN GET AWAY WITH IT. But this sets back womens equal rights decades. EITHER SHE IS A PRO OR SHE NEEDS TO GO MAKE ME A SANDWICH IN THE KITCHEN. cant be both ways.

Based on the Youtube below she is about a C / C+ (from men's ranking perspective), maybe a B+/A in women's ranking (once you exclude the top 4 or 5 real women pros), she seems to struggle with running an open rack of 10 ball; and her shot selections not the best! Maybe she is better now!

This is nothing more than some boys not being able to swallow being beat by a woman. Johnnyt

So let me get this straight. You're hating on Emily and I'm a hater? Makes sense.
She markets herself as a pro. The wpba has her ranked as a pro and 21st out of 76 ranked players. . The WPA. the actual ranking body of pool has her at 78 in the world. . How is she an amateur again.

Not so much that I'd care if Emily played in a tournament that I'm playing in (and I'm no pro) because even if I didn't beat her, I'd bet money that she wouldn't win an event against the level of non-pro players that I play with. We'd actually welcome her participation because a couple of us would end up with "I took down Emily Duddy" bragging rights.

However, as a guy I don't quite get it. Women claim that they want to be treated equally, yet they take advantage of situations like this if given the opportunity. If it were a world ranked male pro player, he would not be allowed to compete in an amateur event. So for women to be treated equally, they should take the good with the bad. That's just my .02.

I still revert to my original statement though. I wouldn't care if she were in a tournament that I was playing in.

I'm saying she by her own admission she is a pro now she wants to go play with the amature s. . She is falling us or herself

Why such a vendetta on this topic. You started a thread to ask of she is really a pro, yet you simply choose to disagree over and over again with anyone that tells you she does not lay pro speed. So what if she calls herself a pro, she does not play pro speed. Did she beat you in a tournament or something, and now your mad about it? She is a B player at best and thus should be able to play in all mixed or men's amateur tournaments, end of story.

She would not be considered a pro by world men's rankings, so equality wod not come into it.

im a 'b' player, a few years ago, i would help a lady friend practice for woman's pro events....i'd spot her the breaks to keep the matches even....she was ranked 13th on the woman's tour at the time.

In my opinion, most woman pro's aren't 'a' players.....and certainly shouldnt be barred from no-pro events. Where im at, the no-pro events, are sometimes also described as 'no top 250'. This makes the correct answer a little more obvious, because most 'pro' woman are not in the top 250 in the country.

Second opinion, if they have her handicapped as a b+, that is probably pretty accurate....quit being such a nit, and let the lady play in peace.

Fasteddie doesnt have a problem with the fact that She calls herself a pro. What he has a problem with is the fact that she IS a pro, and RANKED as a PRO. Yet she is allowed to play in an amature event. I personally agree with Fasteddie. If you are Ranked as a pro you shouldnt be allowed to enter Amature events. Yes I agree that she really is about a C+ to B- at best, yet the womens governing bodies of pool recognize her as a PRO.....End Of Story... BTW would you let Karen Coor play in the amatures I didnt think so.......Rank is Rank......period.....

I don't think women pros ranked below 20 should be barred from men's amateur events. Women's yes!

This is a good point. I would even go as far as to say only the top 10 women (US at least) can be ranked at a pro speed for an open tournament.

I think the "pro" event is more of a skill rank rather than what you call yourself or how you make a living thing.

I've seen Emily play a few times on streams here and there/ From what I have seen, my 14 yr old son can beat her if he plays at the top 75% of his game and if I was to enter him in this tournament I'd put him in as a C+, mostly due to his inconsistency. He can run out a rack, but can also miss an easy shot at the end and give the game away as often.

Unfortunately too many women players are models/poo players instead of the other way around. Take a look at Mary Avina (SP?), she has like 50 videos and things out there, yet not a single time have I seen her in a tournament. Her skill is clearly being able to wear skirts.
