Here's a little trick I use when faced with a cinch shot. This works for me because I hold the cue between my thumb and index finger - not strangle-hold tight, but not loose, either.
What I do is this: During the last part of my pre-shot routine, I press the tip of my index finger against the butt of the cue, then stroke the shot.
I've got good alignment on the shot and my stroke is straight. By pressing against the shaft with the tip of my index finger, I'm adding what feels like a little more stability to my stroke. This works for me 99% of the time!
Please note: This shooting tip works well for shots that can be cinched.
Shoot safe.
