Cinching the Shot

Here's a little trick I use when faced with a cinch shot. This works for me because I hold the cue between my thumb and index finger - not strangle-hold tight, but not loose, either.
What I do is this: During the last part of my pre-shot routine, I press the tip of my index finger against the butt of the cue, then stroke the shot.

I've got good alignment on the shot and my stroke is straight. By pressing against the shaft with the tip of my index finger, I'm adding what feels like a little more stability to my stroke. This works for me 99% of the time!

Please note: This shooting tip works well for shots that can be cinched.

Shoot safe.

Cinched? Do you mean cheating the pocket or spinning it in?

Not sure what the OPs definition is, but cinching a ball means to put all of your focus on making the ball without concern for position.

My definition of Cinching concurs with that posted by Chuck Fields.

Thanks,

I agree, but would also add it requires a much shorter stroke. Bridge Hand is now closer to the cue ball, and even then just pull the cue back only have the distance to your hand, prolly even less, and hit center ball and punch it in.....reducing moving parts to increase making the game/money ball.

Some don't believe you should ever change your mechanics while others think you can, I think it's up to each person cause we all handle stress differently. But, yeah, I like to cinch
