the amount of deflection? I think I saw a chart somewhere around here awhile back but I can't find it. I'm looking for an aftermarket shaft with deflection performance similar or with slightly more deflection than the original Predator 314 shafts. Thank you, Roy

I have yet to see a truly independent study on it. From experience I can tell you that:

Mezz WD700
Mezz WX700
OB Classic
OB Classic+
Pechauer Hybrid Pro+
Tiger Ultra-X LD

All have similar amounts of deflection when compared to a 314 most have slightly more
and all of them play at least decent in my opinion.

gr. Dave

I like ob the best I've tried them all about too try the new ob + I'm sure ill stay with that I like the ss360 as well but I think dr dave had a chart

Buy OB2 11.75 mm dia, it has extremely low squirt. Or buy a cheap cue and turn the shaft down to 10 mm, learn the secret on how to aim when applying english (critical)

I played with the original 314 and there was a chart awhile back that showed the BK2 shaft being closest to the original 314... Actually didn't surprise me a whole lot as my primary player was the Bk2 that I had just gravitated to before swapping to OB..... I still will pull it out if I am not using the OB....

I am looking forward to the new classic plus to see how it measures up.. I have been using the pro and it shoots a little too straight for me.....

He said he wants something similar to the original predator shafts, not some crazy low-deflection toothpick of a shaft...

In my experience, the Mezz Alpha and Adam ACSS shafts are very close to the original predator shafts, but play more solid and have slightly more deflection.

If u want something close to the 314 I'd got with classic + I hear nothing but good I have the org classsic and its like the 314 but better so I'm sure the + is even better imo

I have a 314-2 and a Meucci PRO and I prefer the Meucci. It has equal or better LD characteristics but it is a solid maple shaft with much more feel than the laminated shaft with a hollow front end.

SS360 from Bob Danielson , this shaft at 12,75mm has a little bit more deflection than The original 314 but with so much more feel .
Try it you will love it .

Here is something I didn't really think about until a few seconds ago.... You can always ADD deflection to the shaft.. you cannot take it out without having extensive work done.. With that said go with a larger diameter shaft like the original 314 like the OB Classic Plus and if it doesn't have enough deflection to it have the tip replaced with a large carbon pad under it... I have a cuemaker who always makes my shafts super LD and we almost always have to add the pads to them for me to like them... I currently am waiting on a new cue from him so have been using the Bk2 and OBs while I wait and didn't even think about suggesting it to someone who actually knows what they want as far as deflection when there are no "new" original 314s to be had.....

Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge. That's the chart I was referring to and thank you for the link. The suggestion to add pads (weight) on the ferrule to increase deflection is novel in it's simplicity and I look forward to trying just that....

I really don't think like a normal person-----so I just want to share what I

was thinking just the other week about the foam in the end of a Predator shaft.

I think it might be "Fix a Flat" stuff to seal all the pores in the wood.

To me, this would make sense. :speechless:

Just thinking out loud...............

trust me when I say this..........

I have played with most of the low deflection shafts on the market and think they are all good for pool.

But the Jacoby Hybrid shaft with the Ki-Tech medium tips are the nutz. This is exactly what you are asking for.

A little more deflection like a normal shaft lets you do some of the things the normal shafts do better.

They start out at 12.75 diameter but I found out for myself I think they play very well at about 12.25.

This is the combination that you are looking for.

Give it a try. You'll like it.

I'm loving it.............And no I don't sell either of them....Sorry. You need to get ahold of Jacoby.
