I have worn glasses for over 40 years. My eyes started to go bad in my 20's and had to get Bi Focals then progresive lens.

In the last couple of weeks things have gone blurry and just had an eye exam for new glasses and Pool Playing glasses to the tune of around $1,000.00 bucks.

I take my glasses off, I see fine now. Very small print like on a script bottle I need to take out the glasses and use bottom lens to read very small print.

At night I have to drive with my glasses tucked down to look over them.

My Pool playing glasses? Forget about it.

Yes, setting up appointment with eye Doctor but was wondering if anyone else ever had their eyes progress when they became old as dirt?

It happened to my Dad and my Aunt. Not to the degree of no longer wearing their glasses, but they felt they no longer needed for far objects. Something similar happened to me, but in a negative way. I'm nearsighted and had my prescription locked in. I went to my eye exam and they found that my one eye had flip flopped. My new prescription is much clearer, although I never wear glasses when playing pool.

So, though I am Crazy, (have Ref) I am not crazy about this? I was thinking of going to Drivers Licence place and taking new eye test to see if I could get Glasses taken off my licence.

Normally the reason people start to need glasses more when they get older is that the cornea and lens stiffens up and ends up distorting the light more. In your case, since one or both of those was messed up earlier, maybe the aging process slowly moved it back to normal shape and you got "fixed".

I have a friend who had to go for a new prescription......
..she had changed her diet and her eyes got much better.

What you wrote makes great sense to me about distorting light.

At night now (as I posted) I can't look through my glasses while driving as the lit signs are blurry and I have no shot of reading them but see them perfect looking over my glasses.

I was begining to think I got bit by a radioactive Spider.

The same thing happened to my Dad. He can pretty much see the table fine without his glasses, but nothing really close and nothing out past 12 feet or so without them.

We live in a real mind blowing time. My 91 year old Mom was deaf for 3 years. They did a Co Ecular implant, she hears but I don't (to say so). Her eyes started to go and now I pick her up and drive her to an eye Doctor that gives her shots in the eyes (I shudder at that). She is healthy as a horse and has considered getting her drivers licence back.

I can't imagine what the Great Great Grand children will see in their lifetime.

Jeesh, I WISH that happened to me .
I tried wearing shooting glasses, it didn't work for me.
My neck's too long or something. My vision goes over the glasses.
So, I have no choice but shot with 20/400 or worse vision.
I can't wear contacts.

My late mother got rid of her distance eye glasses too after decades of wearing a pair.

Joey,

I had the same problem but got oversized billiard glasses. If you want them PM me.

A change in diet can drastically affect your eyes. If you started eating healthier it could account for it. Also if you have been not wearing them for awhile you will find they get better.

OMG CLEAN YOUR KEYBOARD! I have been using the 3M Desk cleaner, it does a good job on both case and the LCD screen without stipping off any coating on the screen. Every other regular cleaner I tried messes up the LCD pannels.

As a computer tech, that is one of the first things I do when working on a system.

I was actually thinking about getting laser surgery just to see if it will help me with my pool game. Crazy if you consider the fact that I play only a couple of times a week and never for serious money or in any tournaments over $20 entry fee.

When I was young, before there was a health and fitness craze, my grandmother started drinking carrot juice. She got to where she could see without her glasses but her gray hair started turning dark at the roots. She stopped and eventually went back to glasses.

We are what we eat.

Funny story about this. Carrots are not as good for your eyes as people think. In WWII England got a new radar and started shooting down planes a lot better. To keep the new tech a secret they put out that the pilots were eating carrots and it helped their eyes. Almost the same thing happened with spinach. Someone put the decimal in the wrong place making (I think) the irron content 10 times more than what it really is. That somehow stuck in peoples mind and Popey started using it due to bad info which made everyone else thing it was really good for you and now it's just part of our culture.

I watch a lot of educational and history shows :)

It has happen to me two times about 10 years between each eye. After each time it happened I had cataract surgery about a year later and now I see better than ever and barring any trauma I will maintain my current vision (Right eye – 20/30, Left eye – 20/25) for the rest of my life. Now if I could find time and finances to compete on a regular basis, go figure.
