Congratulations to Nick Ekonomopoulos as the third players to join Mark Gray and Niels Feijen in the European Mosconi Cup Team.

He's on a run at the US Open as well. They must have seen him beat Corey Deuel and said "put him on the team!"

The last two members will be Appleton and Hohmann, I'm guessing.

I think you're right, but replace Hohmann with Boyes.

Not that I think Boyes is a better player, but I have a feeling winning the World Cup may have earned those two spots on the team.

So the team should be now...
Gray
Feijen
Eckonomopoulos
Hohmann
Appleton

Seriously, hohmann has more titles and global victories than anyone on tour in the last couple of years. He took out 2 majors last year and never made the team. Boyes is a great player but I think its embarrassing for hohmann and matchroom sport not to make him the 1st pick. But lets be honest every industry has politics even in pool and some redemption needs to happen. They owe him.
No doubt boyes is capable and I already know boyes will make the team because he is enflish and it will get more tv ratings. Its all bs.:boring2:

Nope... He's gathered enough points to guarantee a spot in Team Europe. The rest of the 2 free spots are going to be "wildcards" from Matchroom...

Not to mention that he's the only one that had enough points for a spot in Team Europe for 3 consecutive years (2012, 2013, 2014) but wasn't part of the 2013 Team Europe as it was a special occasion (20 year anniversary) and all Players were "wildcards" if I'm not mistaken.

OMG, your avatar is so funny! :grin-square:

I think you're right. He was overlooked because of the 20-year anniversary last year.

Heck, those of us who watched the Open last year -- and I was one of them -- were well aware of Nick's strength. He's very, very deliberate pool player.

And I must say that he is quite handsome. :grin-loving:

I'm not keen on that team. Thats plenty beatable.

It is the strongest and by far the best team europe can put together. I dont think beatable even exists in the dictionary for the american team. I think more of the emphasis should be put on the american team and what it should look like as europe can duplicate another 3 of these teams. Id take svb, put duel back in... and pick the rest from pool room bars, I think they need to really try something left field to beat this european team I selected

I like Duel - incredible talent but he's not a team pressure player. Team US will have it tough with the beating they took last yr. And to be honest it is getting kinda boring seeing Europe win so easily lately.

Boyes should be on team played well last Mosconi Cup won World Cup with Appleton plus he is hometown hero he can see the venue where they play from his house . A lot if local support

I really had hoped that we were past this kind of sexist objectification of our pool players. Love him for how he plays, not for his square jaw and tight ass. He's not just some piece of meat.

Like my other half tells me when he's gazing at beautiful women, "Hey, I can enjoy the scenery." :grin-square:

I can enjoy pool while enjoying the scenery, as well. ;)

I think the strongest team we can put together is:

Niels Feijen
Thorsten Hohmann
Nick Ekonomopoulos
Ralf Souquet
Darren Appleton

Ralf is admittedly perhaps not as strong as he once was, but
in these super short races, high pressure situations I still like him.
Nick van den Berg, Karl Boyes or Oliver Ortmann would be good
back-ups.

The other 4 are pretty much shoe-ins.

Mark Gray is an excellent player but doesn't play that many
tournaments and as such there are a few others I would put
in before him.

gr. Dave
