Got a New POOL Table at work! :(

So... my building remodels the ground floor and the mezzanine. Opened the mezzanine level on Wednesday with a gym, meeting rooms, small work stations and then I peek around the corner and there is a pool table! Yeah! Not a Diamond but YEAH!, its an Olhausen.

I don't think I have ever played on an Olhausen before, but I figured they wouldn't be too bad since they have sponsored tournaments in the past. Right?

Here are some pictures of the pockets after 2 days. The pocket are plastic and only held in by 2 staples! Already two of the pockets are coming undone. The side pocket isn't even square to begin with. Unbelievable! And yes, it is pea green cloth to match the remodeling.

Better than nothing I guess!

This is what I mean by the pocket not being square

easy fix. remove the liners and cut them to fit better with a utility knife. bring a tack hammer and some small nails and you're done

I wish it was that easy. I can't touch anything. The company who owns the facility is based out of NYC and I'm sure they really don't give a shit. Whoever picked the table was obviously concerned about cost and look only. They didn't even put a spot on the table. Most likely the architect and interior design team. I could spend a lot of time complaining and emailing only to fall upon deaf ears.

Out of all the jobs I've had in my life, I was fired from only one. One of my last jobs was the charge nurse in an upscale retirement home. I got them to put an 8' table in for the residents. There really wasn't much for me to do unless someone fell or went bad. It was just to watch the other nurses and CNA's. I was told by the owners of the place to stay off the pool table or they would have to let me go. I honestly tried to stay off it...but I just had to hit a ball or 15 everytime I passed it. Johnnyt

Whew, you need sunglasses to play on that thing. Just hit in the general direction of the pocket like Mosconi did on his hi run table.

Well personally, I wouldn't bother asking permission. I'd just fix it, though probably after hours when nobody's around. All that would happen is the table would be better. Why would anyone get upset about that?

Uhhmmm...someone is always around my friend. This place is monitored like Fort Knox. I have to do 3 security checks to even get to the pool table. I have no right to alter any of their property in anyway. And, I really don't think I want to go to jail over for "damaging" this pool table, because that is what they would call it.

If it's available to play on (the presence of balls makes me think it is) and not just looks, just fire balls in at warp speed until the pockets let go.

Maybe a team of students from some furniture design school.

Pool table update!

Ok...they fixed the pockets and even straightened the side pocket with out me asking. Something Olhausen should have done right the first time. They put in nails which is a lot stronger than staples.

Hideous!! However it would be cool to be able to go down and hit a few balls on your break or after work until the traffic thins out.

The shoddy job on the install was not Olhausen's fault... It would have been the fault of the installer... Sounds like they knew they half assed it and came back to do it right... Who knows they may have been out of tack nails....

I love the look of that table! Nice!

I work from home - 9' of billiard bliss is only 15' away. I love long, boring conference calls. I can listen to work, and work on my pool game at the same time. :)
