Everything Is So Clear To Me Now......

Earlier this week I tried playing the 6 ball ghost and he was a sneaky little guy. I thought for sure I had him and out of nowhere, and I mean nowhere, he beat me 10-0. He skunked me. As most of you can imagine I was heartbroken.

Ive come to realize, on this day, that I am nothing more than a banger. Even after spending thousands on cues and cases I cant even get one game against the 6 ball ghost.

I , Allen Brown, am publicly admitting that I am not a pool player. I am a BANGER!!!!!!!
If anyone else would like to come forward and admit that they are a banger with me you are more than welcome. I know Im not alone in this struggle. Maybe together we can get through this tough and heartbreaking situation.

Nope your the only banger on here if most of the posts are to be believed. Enjoy your island sir.

Are you racking 6 balls only in a triangle shape ? (or doing a normal 9-ball rack & removing 3 balls after the break ?)

Cheers.

So where's the problem? If you are enjoying the game, that's all that matters.

Only a select few become highly skilled at pool. The rest of us play entirely because we love it.

I will concur with ur original analysis of urself - you are indeed a bona-fide banger. :-)

I would like to think the ghost won't beat me 10 zip in 6-ball on my 9 footer - but reality may prove me wrong - stay tuned for the scorecard...

mamics <----- not very far above banger level even on a good day.

Bingo! Hey, without we bangers, where would all those near pros who post here go to brag?

Haha me too....

Don't worry about it and shoot pool to have fun. Let the pro, pro wannabe's and A players worry about perfection. Most games that involve a ball can be fun if we accept it for what it is, a game. If the ghost kicks your butt lock it in the closet and shoot some drills for a few days and then let the ghost out and kick butt.

Hell, some days I can barely beat the one-ball ghost. :embarrassed2:

I've been tellin' the truth about being just an old bar banger since I joined here, but then shortstop speed guys like Joey A. also call themselves bangers, so what does that make me?

Bottom line is I try as hard as I can to get better, and I ain't giving up as long as I keep waking up this side of the grass. I don't gamble, so I ain't begging for weight. Not once have I come on AZB and asked to be staked, nor have I stiffed anybody on a cue deal. There's gotta be room in pool for a guy like me who just loves to hit 'em as best I can and loves every minute of it.

Then I think you've got what it takes to be on the road.

Sometimes when I play the ghost I get so scared I have to take a break and hide under the table until the feeling passes. Spoooooooooooooky!

The ghost is like a demon in the beginning. He locks you up, makes you miss shots you normally wouldn't miss etc.. Keep playing him though, he gets easier I promise. Still can't beat him on a 9ft but I own his ass on a 8ft ;-). Only took me 11 yrs to get to this point :-/.

You say you spent thousands on cues on cues and cases. This could be part of the problem. You have not spent enough on equipment. Do you have $30 chalk? What about a little chalk holder for a couple of hundred dollars.
I heard someone say a player has a $1000 cue, a $40 tip, and a $10 stroke. Have you considered a good instructor? Someone who will help you with your fundementals. Build a good stroke. Mark wilsons book is a good start. But, you need someone to watch you and make sure you are stroking correctly.
Contact Scott Lee. He is an expert in biulding strong fundementals.

look at it this way

I say the 6 ball ghost just got 10 lucky rolls :shakehead: yes, way too many in one match :(

But the worst part is: you let him break you mentally  as your post clearly proves :D

For this: we are dissapointed in you ;)

I have 3 of those fancy pieces of $30 chalk.
I HAD 2 of those $40 tips and cut them off.
I have a pair of pants and use the right front pocket for my chalk holder.
I have taken lessons from Scott Lee and it improved my game by leaps and bounds.

I will play the ghost on a bar box Tuesday and see what happens. I only play on a bar box unless I go to billf59's house and he has that demon 8 footer that hates me. Im probably still going to wind up being a banger on it too. Its ok though because I have lots of fun when I play.
