Just curious, does anyone play in the new Mike Sigel league that he was starting? No one around here wanted to do it but I was wondering if it was catching on anywhere else in U.S. I remember a media blitz on it and how he had secured funding etc etc but seems I haven't heard anything for awhile. Anyone doing it?

I haven't heard one thing about Mike's tour since that media blitz you speak of earlier this year.

I sure hope it's working out; more pool never hurts.
I hope it doesn't go to the wayside as did Bonus Ball.

Bonus Ball hasn't gone to the wayside for good. It's merely been a pit stop. You'll be hearing about it again in the near future.

I was just wondering what they planned to do with the venue and whether it was just gutted and up for sale or lease.

There was a thread a couple of weeks ago announcing the winners of the Mike Sigel league (a team out of Corner Pockets in Largo, FL) having won that league and receiving a $10k payout...

I happen know two of the guys on that team and they did get paid, and the checks cleared...

Seems legit.

I want to join... ;)

The league needs hundreds of players, if not 1000,s to keep paying 10k + a large amount at end of season as promissed. If Mike's league had anywhere near that it would be all over AZB 10 times more than Bonus Ball was at it's high point. In this case no news is bad news. Johnnyt

I contacted them about trying to run it here in Knoxville... It's a moot point tho since for some reason APA is now a monopoly in the location I would have started with  ... Guess that's a topic for another thread and a good one for election tuesday LOL...

There was a team in the pool hall I play at, maybe 2 teams not sure, it plays the same night I play, Wed.
This team came in 2nd to the team from Largo, most team members I talked to got $700-$1000 and they did get paid. This is the only place in Orlando that is having the Sigel leagues. tom

At least the website mentions the weekly fees.

They're on the high side, as one should expect with those payouts.

Who was on the team from there?
I use to live in Clearwater and I played all over that area.

Theres 5 or 6 teams that play out of Bigtyme Billiards in Houston. One team with real solid core of players, id say the one of the best ones assembled anywhere, but that makes it hard for them to win also.

Team has :
Ernesto Bayaua
Manny Chau
Chase Rudder
Billy Sharp
Renny Rendon
and a couple others

I play out of Corner Pocket here in Largo, Florida. The owner (Stephanie Mitchell) tells me that for the second session GPPA league will be playing on Wednesdays and Sundays here at the Corner pocket.

And yes they did get paid their
10 grand from winning the first session.

Regards,

Lesh

the format was stupid with a lower skill lever getting ball at hands anytime they wanted it
then as a business model it did not make sense

when will people learn the APA and BCA have the leagues conquered, you cannot compete with them

I read the rules after this came up on AZ the last time. Cant say I cared much for it. But I would have to play it before passing judgment. I would think all the AZers that said "ball in hand was a stupid rule that was ruining the game" on a previous thread, would have spoken up about it.

Ball in hand is exactly what is needed to equalize 8ball... I won 29 weeks in a row with a 1.19 innings per game average against mainly 2s 3s 4s and 5s in the APA... IF I don't get out I should be punished by lower handicaps like they get punished if they don't get out... The thing is for most of the league players they still won't get out with ball in hand.... Yes they can bunt the balls and hide you and keep getting ball in hand but they still have to execute and you know that only happens when the stars and the moon align..... With Ball in Hand you will have more accurate handicaps for the lower players in pretty short order....
