Ivory Joint Josswest

I have got my cues out to take pictures. While digging them out, I find that the ones I have kept, (okay I was a flipper for years, but not much now) were something special to me or I really liked the cue.

This is one of them. I have probably had over 50 Josswest cues over the years, this is the one I kept. I got it after it had been refinished, which is rare for me, as I usually buy them cheaper NEEDING a refinish and then send them off. But during the refinish the buttcap had lost the JW logo.

I sent the cue to Bill Stroud and he called me and said no problem he would put the logo on the cue and he said he remembered the cue. It has a fat gold veneer and then a black veneer on the outside. He said it was a beauty and he built about 3 or 4 of them with those veneers but couldn't get any more that thickness in gold.

The rings are gold and burgendy blocks and then ivory joint, inlays and ferrelles.

I havent seen anymore like it, but I like it and IMO ivory jointed JW cues of this vintage is Bill's most impressive work, especially when they are different from his "catalog" cues.

Its a dandy and I love the cue. Enjoy the pictures.

Those of Joss and JW cues with the large maple block rings are just the best. The ivory rectangles in the butt sleeve are a favorite as well.

Good you kept this one. I have had many cues that I flipped and wished I kept. Ones that are one of a kinds and so rare you know that you will never see them again.
