Segmented Ivory& Ebony Bushka Rings (Wow!)

I really like the way Bob improvised. He separated the ivory stitched squares in my design for Bushka Rings using tiny slivers of ebony......there are a total of four (4) rings and every ring has 24 ivory inlays (total of 88 inlays just in the rings) accompanied by 15 ivory inlays in cue's foreram and 30 more ivory inlays in the butt sleeve topped off with an ivory butt cap......Bob truly performed some amazing workmanship when he completed my cue's design.

I like that ring work Matt, but I would be surprised if it was inlaid. Looks like a ring billet where Bob cut in a thin black veneer, or possibly even black paper into the ivory before he cut the rings off the billet.

U Mite B Rite......

Now that I think of it, the way the cue is assembled, the stitches are probably the way Jamie described it. The rings were probably added as assembled sections because would have required stupid extra hours to drop them in as individual cuts. Thanks Jamie.....and without a doubt, I 'd vote for the sleeve on the Tonkin cue you posted is the nicest sleeve not only posted so far but should remain in 1st place for a very long time.

What is the inlay called inside the boxed veneers? Is that some type of scimitar design? Is that silver inside the ivory? it's really cool looking and I'd like to think about using that inlay for a cue I'm contemplating that will have Szamboti style fancy ivory peacocks in the forearm and I'm undecided about what inlay to use for the butt sleeve's boxed veneers. I had been thinking about an ivory bar like Barry Szamboti used but this Tonkin inlay really looks so cool I'd like it for my cue's design.

Some nice cues guys! I was definitely thinking if I ever got another cue to have it be an exotic wood and fancy rings (no wrap/inlays). I may re visit this thread for ideas if I move forward :)

Here is my updated CrossBones, 3 piece

Thank you,
Steve

I don't want to use anyone elses pictures, but I 'll say Cory Barnharts rings can be picked out pretty quick

Eddie Cohen cue that is being made for me.
Ebony Merry Widow w/ Ca. Buckeye Burl handle
All I told Eddie is that since this is a Merry Widow cue I want awesome Ring work.
I believe he succeeded
Even the dog can't keep his eyes off it. LOL

PS: This cue is still a work in progress that's why the finish coat does not perfect.
