Simple answer….. The players… they played bad.. its a tough environment… we don't train for that type of situation… its almost impossible to recreate…we aren't built for that…
What you saw the last couple of days is not indicative of the talent of the 5 US players.. anyone who has seen those guys really play knows that was a product of the situation… not talent level….
Outside of Niels Feijen (who looked like a world champion and played really comfortable the entire tournament)…… and occasionally DAZ (who made some big shots)… everybody else had some really shaky moments at the tournament…..
In the end…. we lost because the situation was to much for our players…we couldn't get out…and you lose when you can't out playing rotation.
pretty simple.
5 years in a row.... Euro is lucky the mosconi cup is not against Asia... lol
Personally, I blame itsfroze, one stroke, and the cocobolocowboy for this loss.
I blame it on the 3 who didn't go.

I vote for other.My vote is for a fractured system of advancement in a country with maybe a couple hundred thousand league players and includes an endless stream of non memorable tournaments with the one tournament that a player can dream to win teetering on insolvency."Bridges to nowhere".

No one is to blame. The MC is a farce when it comes to measuring results in the "sport" of pool. British fans are drunken baboons and the way they act is disrespectful to the "sport". American fans are too laid back and respectful and simply too cool to act like fools. So it never equals out one year there and one year here, etc.
The "Show" is just that, it's a SHOW. And in the grand scheme of things it's the best thing going for pool in many years. Europeans get their jolly's off beating the USA more than anything in their world. But the funny part is they honestly think the slew of MC victories last few years are such a great accomplishment. But with the way they act no team stands to hold up to that pressure in that environment with the sharking and constant distraction.
Very exciting to watch.

America is to blame for not being able to fund a team of 5 players to represent the country. We couldnt pony up enough dough to allow our picked team to focus on pool for a year? All of America wont subsidize travel and expenses so our best could compete in tournaments around the world? So i blame us for not supporting our team enough to make us competitive. THAT HAVING BEEN SAID IM DAMNED PROUD OF OUR MOSCONI CUP TEAM! THEY DIDNT WHINE, SMIRK OR EXHIBIT POOR SPORTSMANSHIP. THEY EVEN GOT RESPECT FROM BOTH THE EURO TEAM AND THE EURO AUDIENCE! IT WAS IN MY MIND A HUGE IMPROVEMENT! THE TEAM HAS MY RESPECT FOR STEPPING UP AND REPRESENTING US .
Bitter much? If you're pretty much entirely blaming the hostile crowd, then how come Europe have won three of the last four cups held in the US, too? You say it doesn't equal out as the US crowd are too respectful (yawn) but at the very least that's three from four on neutral turf, including an 11-2 scoreline last year.
Your players missed enough shots on the table as it was. I don't see tough equipment favouring them against English pool converts like Boyes and Appleton, and an ex snooker player like Gray. And Feijen shoots as straight as anyone on tough equipment, so the only question mark there really is Nikos. Yeah, I don't buy that argument at all.
Anybody think the American obsession with gambling and marathon races hurts the chances of their players to compete in a professional, pressure filled environment? Not talking about the crowd here, obviously, but about the shorter races, every rack means something, constantly playing against other world class players, no chance to up the bet if you lose, etc..

I traveled to Blackpool to watch the Cup in person and USA simply did not have a consistent high level of performance. Overall the team members played like A players not world class. Schmidt's selection was surprising not because he lacks talent but rather he did not deserve to go based on how little he played in 2014. Oscar or Jeremy deserved to go.
The most significant negative impact was Shane's performance.
No one can question his amazing talent but on this occasion he was absent both in talent and leadership eg setting the pace.
Both Justins did well.
Europe looks and acts like a real team.
USA needs a genuine Mens Professional Tour. This cowboy, hustler mentality will continue to hold back real potential. But if that is who we are then we have to settle for what we get vs true disciplined players.
so I return to USA tomorrow dismayed and saddened by USA's relegation to forth place in the world after China, Philippines and Europe.

Hall did well, but I thought Bergman played poorly.
The Japanese have a saying, "Find a solution, not the blame". The solution is there needs to be a governing body of pool in this country to provide support for those who represent our country in this sport. The BCA should hang its head in shame. Companies centered in this Country such as Brunswick and Diamond who produce the equipment that have been the standard that this sport plays on since forever and make their profit in it should also question themselves as to why they can't contribute a modicum of financial support for a team representing the country that their businesses reside in. It's just a shame.
