The Dragon Event

I saw the payouts and I'm going from memory here, but roughly:

1st 14,500
2nd 6,800
3/4 3,200
5/8 2,000
9/16 1,000

Am I missing something here ?

Payout total = 40500.
20k added + 64 x (entry - green fee) = 40500
easy math gives us 200 for green fee out of 520 buy-in.

Very smart of DP never mentioned the green free or published the payout up front.

How do you figure? Entry about 500. Hotel room for 2 was approx. 130 or 65 per person. Except for the last eight, it was a four day event.

500 + 65 x 4 = 760 American participants should all have been able to keep their travel costs to 400 or less. As I see it, if you were an American participant, then if you cashed, you broke about even, and if you reached the quarterfinals, you made some money. Yes, a handful came from overseas, and their participation economics were tougher.

If you came in the top 4 and live in America, you made money unless you stayed at the Plaza.

as I heard from the ABR Radio participants are required to stay at a specific hotel for 150 a night.

It's 1:00 -- anyone have a stream? Nothing here.

Edit -- it came on a few minutes late.

No surprise to have Vivian vs Ga Young in the final. I hope Vivian will prevail against the mighty Korean. That would be nice for her .
It would be nice also if someone can provide a livescoring here. Thanks in advance.

We're on intermission.

With a 6-5 lead, Vivian overran position for the 8-ball in Game 12, scratched on a safety exchange, and lost the game for a 6-6 tie.

Ga-Young broke and ran the next two, then also won the following two, for 5 games in a row.

Score: 10-6 Kim.

Yes, you are.

1st 14,500
2nd 6,800
3/4 3,200
5/8 2,000
9/16 1,000

14,500 +6,800 + 2 x 3,200 + 4 x 2,000 + 8 x 1,000 = 43,700

520 x 64 = 33,280

About 10,000 added.

It has been quite a mistake-filled match so far, with the players committing over 20 fouls and misses in 16 games. And these errors have been about evenly split between the two players.

1st 14,500
2nd 6,800
3/4 3,200
5/8 2,000
9/16 1,000

14,500 +6,800 + 2 x 3,200 + 4 x 2,000 + 8 x 1,000 = 43,700

520 x 64 = 33,280

About 10,000 added.

I am 100% sure D.P said multiple times that this tourney was a 20k added.

Had hoped to see you this week at the event.

Im disappointed-I almost came up-Im in Fla for the winter but i really wanted to get back when i heard of this event and especially when i heard GYK was there. Denise too-I have met her twice- the first time going back to 2006 when she was in the WPC in Taiwan when GYK got her second Championship.

Basically it came down to the fact that i sold my parking space for the winter in NY(I'm in Westchester) and that made it near impossible to come back. Next year I'll make a provision when i give someone my space and I'll be there.

OK, that's a plan. I know you'd have enjoyed the event.

I still did-The stream was bad, the commentary mediocre but still Id do it all again. Entertainment nearly all day and half the night's for 6-7 days in the comfort of my own home. Hard to beat for 50 bucks.

Nice. Even if you had been there, during the round robin, there were always a few matches on tables you couldn't see well from anywhere, making it difficult at times to watch the match that interested you the most. Once they got to the single elimination, however, it was non-issue, as nearly all the matches were played on the front tables where good viewing was always possible.
