wowser! I, too, love the rings. butt sleeve work is great as well.
It was a really tough choice for me to give up my Paul Mottey cue. It had a unique design and it did hit every bit as great as has been expressed so many others over the years about his piloted ivory joint. The design was based upon Gus Szamboti's favorite personal cue and whomever winds up with it is getting an amazing pool cue.
Nonetheless, I must confess this one is truly spectacular when viewed in person. My Mottey was a cue that everyone admired for the fancy design since it was an 8 pointer. But this cue is a show stopper. Hardly any good player will walk by the pool table when this cue is laying there while I rack the pool balls. It just has this look that says......"This is no ordinary pool cue."
My first full splice cue and when you examine up close the silver stitched rings and abalone dots, the small ivory fancy etched diamonds in the sleeve are unbelievable, and the workmanship is so extensive....holy cow. And I will go on record this is the best balanced cue I've ever held. The balance is.....well, sort of soft and specific, if that makes any sense.
When you balance the cue on one finger, it is like Harry Potter's Wand, or something. It doesn't move or teeter totter and then eventually stops swaying and becomes still and motionless, i.e., stationary. Not with this cue......it's like you can just place the cue on its fulcrum point effortlessly and the cue just balances there.......you feel like you could walk with it balanced on one finger......it is so steady......it's the only cue that's ever done that for me.
Everything about this cue is startling and beautiful to behold, except for the wrap. I'm trying......I really am....and this will probably sound picky on my part.....but I sure wish it was Cortland Linen #12. As you can tell, it's elephant ear and it's probably what most players would like on this cue.
I know I could put Cortland Linen #9 on this cue but it wouldn't look as handsome, even though it would feel much better but just not look as great. Nope, it would have to be Cortland Linen #12 or else this wrap stays on the cue so I'm working through this issue. Like I said, many will think I'm being picky but how's that go......Oh yeah....."The heart wants what the heart wants.".
The original Moori Tips.....Wow......I have Kamui Clear Black and Kamui Black tips on all my other cues. The Kamui Clear are in soft and super soft hardness and I am thrilled with the way these tips play. But gotta say that love is a lot better than being just thrilled, and I "love" these Moori original brown tips......I want more of them.......more...more...me want more Moori. Oh well, that's probably going to be the same as wishing for some Cortland Linen #12, i.e., fat chance.
