question for the "flying" player

I'm taking a trip out to Wisconsin next week and I want to take my cues. I have a 3x6 hard "instroke" case and was wondering if anyone has ever let them go through? Also, of you have, what did you do to "lock" it safe?

While we are at it, how about some nightmare stories about how the cues got lost or whatever! My first trip on a plane since I've been playing pool and I wanna hit some balls on my down time!

Best way to do it is to fed ex your stuff to yourself.

If you gotta take em on the plane, they aren't going in your carry-on.

You should get a suitcase big wEnough to hold your case and do that.

Locking anything that tsa has responsibility for is also not advisable.

Yeah, the suitcase idea is what I'm leaning towards! I can't bring myself to send my stuff fed ex or anything.

Get a big duffelbag style suitcase with a hard bottom. Put your cues in your cue case flush with the bottom and stuff the remaining area with clothes. This should work well and probably wont be as prone to thieves as just checking your cue case.

I purchased a duffle bag style case. Basically, it is a nice duffle bag on a sturdy frame. Plenty of space for my clothes and stuff, etc. The bottom compartment has enough room for about 3 good sized pool cases. It is 36" long. It is made by the company High Sierra. It has a handle and wheels and all the things you would want in a travel suitcase. Very sturdy. It is fairly heavy empty, so pack accordingly. I purchased mine at Campmor.com. One of my best pool purchases ever!

i personally place my cues in a container called the bullet. it's a hard case made for fishing rods. i wrap them in a blanket, and slide the blanket into the hard case. the case is lockable. tsa ask's whats in the case, i'm sure they xray it, and on the plane it goes with the rest of storage luggage. i have a soft case i fold and place in my luggage. when i get to the hotel/resort or where ever i'm staying, i'm ready to go.
never had a problem with it.
