What's with all the low-balling nits???

I just finished reading every post in this thread and not one is about the time any of us cue buyers/sellers/makers got an awesome steal on a cue because of the other persons ignorance/need for $$$/or the temperature of the cue!

The cue market is just like the real estate game. My house in Florida was purchased for $170k (I stole it!)....I remodeled and reappraised at $305k (suckerzz!)....the last time I saw it sell it went for $145k (WHAT?! thats crazy cheap!). So which number is reality? any of them I guess, but I can't get mad when someone offered me $280k on my $170k investment that I KNOW is worth $305k cause the guy at the bank said so! or because I put so much time and effort into the remodel.

I think in this cue market the guys who build them are hurt the most....especially if they went into biz during the hay days of cue prices. Their whole business plan is built on an inflated value at the very top of cue pricing.

I think the best example of a market out of whack is when folks are willing to sit on a waiting list for 2 years to pay BIG $$$ for a cue to just put it back for sale. It is just like when Harley Davidsons were tough to get maybe 10 years ago. I went into the dealer and they asked me to put down $500 to get on a waiting list, and they could not tell me what bike I could get when they come in....huh? I had to walk out in amazement....But it was spured by the " American chopper" bubble that now is just like cues from the "Color of Money" era...tough market indeed!

My favorite comment on a For Sale ad. You know, the one that tells you how unbelievable and breathtaking the cue is. Then they don't tell you a price. They use the old "accepting reasonable offers". And when you don't guess right you become a low-balling nit.....

The one I have always liked OBO. What are the other offers? When is it the end of the offers?

Right now someone has a Josey for sale and says something like $1500 trades, or 1350 straight. Been bumped and the last bump say Offers. I email him asking where he needs to be at, and he says $1350 is his bottom dollar. What ask for offers

NO, I think it means.....$1350, but will entertain HIGHER offers! not lower:)

Let me guess, bragging about how successful he is, the cars he owns yadda yadda. Here's a man that has married money, and isn't shy about telling the world how great he is.

Did he tell you about the certificate he has on his wall? Lol.
No, more along the lines of how he contacted "the source" and shut me down, LOL... He asked to buy 100 boxes and I told him forget it (he buys chalk from the same place, right???). He said he is the "Chalk Tzar". Unfortunately he spelled it wrong. It is spelled CZAR or TSAR. LOL.... I feel better knowing he is the main distributor for billiard chalk when he can't spell his own title right (umm, lol..). Perfect! Then he said something about don't piss him off, it's been fun, etc. No clue on that one. I didn't start the mud throwing contest and this was just something to do on the side to have a little fun. That's all. Apparently, much more serious for him and his "son". The guy is a flat out coward. He throws the law in your face, yet he acts like an assclown. He also sent some previous PM's telling me how much money he makes, you know, how great he is and how I'm not. Of course, he knows nothing about me or my life.

How do you know all of this about the above mentioned clown? By the way, it does't take a genius to figure out he just wanted to try and buy out whatever stock I had, then contact the guy and close it out... HAHA...

Gawd, this thread amuses me...I kind of did buy my Josey from the old for sale board. This was in 2007. Skins posted a few available cues. I picked the one I liked, called keith's number, bought it at the posted price I thought was reasonable.

It plays beautifully for me...Since I only need one playing cue, I'm done buying.

Yeah...guess I'm weird.:nanner:

thread

The BIG question here is what is market price? In the last couple of years things have tanked and today something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. I always respond to any offer and say no thank you I am not looking to give it away today but thanks for the offer. Sometimes the same offerer has come back and bought it anyway. I don't get mad at someone for trying. Just my 8.5 cents worth John

I personally think we're sitting on a cue bubble that's close to popping.

It's simple supply and demand. Right now we have so many really talented cue makers, we have more great cues hitting the market than we have serious players to buy them. I have so many cues now I would only buy another that was a REALLY good deal. Apparently, I'm not alone in that kind of thinking.

Within the next five years or so, I think folks are going to be surprised at the big name cues that will be selling at deep discounts. The days of flipping new cues for more than the maker charged are reaching an end.

I think on this forum we've had a group of guys over the years
buy cues, trade cues and sell cues. To bad there wasn't just a way
to try a cue first because there lies the truth.
I think a small percentage of the guys on here are trying to make
a profit, while the majority is looking for the magic wand.
Now years have passed and many are now realizing that alot of
cues from production to custom don't play well, so they look to
try to get there money back in hopes of finding the stick they
play great with.
Well, a few more years pass, and the same people just come
to terms with reality that they just aren't that good of players,
sell all there gear and end up with a 30 dollar sneaky pete wrapped
in two elastics and a frown.

Just playing devil's advocate...

"Definition of TZAR - variant of czar, czarevitch, czarina, czarism"

Maybe you should think twice before you start poking fun at people who "can't spell," no?
