I just finished reading every post in this thread and not one is about the time any of us cue buyers/sellers/makers got an awesome steal on a cue because of the other persons ignorance/need for $$$/or the temperature of the cue!
The cue market is just like the real estate game. My house in Florida was purchased for $170k (I stole it!)....I remodeled and reappraised at $305k (suckerzz!)....the last time I saw it sell it went for $145k (WHAT?! thats crazy cheap!). So which number is reality? any of them I guess, but I can't get mad when someone offered me $280k on my $170k investment that I KNOW is worth $305k cause the guy at the bank said so! or because I put so much time and effort into the remodel.
I think in this cue market the guys who build them are hurt the most....especially if they went into biz during the hay days of cue prices. Their whole business plan is built on an inflated value at the very top of cue pricing.
I think the best example of a market out of whack is when folks are willing to sit on a waiting list for 2 years to pay BIG $$$ for a cue to just put it back for sale. It is just like when Harley Davidsons were tough to get maybe 10 years ago. I went into the dealer and they asked me to put down $500 to get on a waiting list, and they could not tell me what bike I could get when they come in....huh? I had to walk out in amazement....But it was spured by the " American chopper" bubble that now is just like cues from the "Color of Money" era...tough market indeed!
