Do you have a Photographic memory

well .....there was this one time.

after getting single again i started hitting the bars and became some what of a player. girls were a dime a dozen and there were times a woman approached me that i had met the week before but i did not remember them . it went on like that for a while with me going from one to the other and forgetting about them .

until this one night i walked into my fav bar. i saw this very attractive woman playing pool and i went up and put my quarters up and waited for my turn. she won 4 or 5 in a row before it was my turn and i won. she put more quarters up and waited for her turn. i later heard from a friend who was there that she had kept the table from the time she got on it until i won.

it was crowded as heck in there and she invited me to set my beer on her table next to the pool table while i was playing . she , her woman friend with her and i made small talk in between me shooting and later told me to pull up a chair from the just vacated table next to hers. her turn to play again and i won again...she made the comment about the long line of quarters and how long it would be before it was her turn again.

knowing she obviously like playing and was pretty good at it i decided we were gonna play partners. all the challengers had to find a partner as long as i was winning ...my table ...my rules. we won quite a few and then just gave up the table to our losers and sat down and talked until closing time. i found out quite a bit about her. i asked for her phone number when she left and she said look it up...you know the name of my business.

well the next week i hooked up with a girl and became fwb and never called the pool player but never forgot her either.

3 years go by and still single i walk into my same fav bar and see this girl shooting pool. i walk up and put my quarters up and sit down with a woman who i knew . she says that this girl at the table is pretty good and has not lost since she got there. i said that is cause she aint faced me yet .

sure enough when its my turn i win and she puts up more quarters. it started getting real crowded and the table on one side of us had more chairs brought over and was crowding me and my friend. we scooted our table over next to the girl pool player and kind of joined our tables together.

the pool player gets up and goes to the bathroom while my friend is talking to her friend. her friend say they are from arkansas. i said wait a minute i know you and your friend. she says no you dont...we aint from around her. i said i know...wait till your friend comes back and i will prove it.

when the girl comes back i said i know you . she says ..no you dont. i replied you came in here 3 years ago . told her she had went to the orpheum to see the wizard of oz and came to this pool room afterwards and shot pool with me. told her she had a dog in her truck and what kind it was. told her what kind of truck it was and that she also barrel raced in rodeos and what kind of business she owned. also told hershe had a small scar on her chin that was not there before and that she had put on 10 pounds and had a helluva figure. also told her she lived just north of little rock in conway.

all three women sitting there were flabbegasted and speechless except her saying i was right. her friend says you must have a photographic memory. i said nah...i can meet a woman one night and not remember her a week later when she comes up to me.
those 2 get up saying they are going to the bathroom and they are talking all the way and looking back at me.

my friend asks how i knew. i said she just had that affect on me. my friend say ..they are lezzies. i said nah. she says i am a woman i know a lezzie when i see one.

well i just had to know so i asked later on after they had been back a while. she said yes. i also asked if i could join them. she said no and laughed.:frown:

on the way out at closing time she was leaving and turned around coming up to me and said...i am gonna lose those 10 pounds i gained. i laughed and said it looks good on you. my friend said they told her i fascinated the heck out of them.

only woman that ever caught my eye like that was a lezzie and would not let me convince her to swing both ways.

Too bad there's no more spot shots.
I've shot thousands of them in my earlier years, and only a few in the last 25 years. That's another thing I don't like about "one foul" is the absence of the spot shot in today's play.
I'm surprised you didn't work out a stock routine for making the spot shot.
Come in from long rail one diamond.
Come up from short rail one diamond.
It will be a perfect half ball hit with no scratch lines. (Aim at edge of object ball with a center hit on the cue ball)
Knock it in the pocket, but don't blast it.

Sorry, that's not accurate - you'll hit the foot rail.

For a perfect half ball spot shot on a 9-foot table place the cue ball on the head string 10.5" from the side rail (other table sizes adjust proportionally).

Yes. No more spot shots. It's a shame. The great ones could rifle them in with their eyes closed. Remember watching Joe Veasey rifle one in while woofing the room at the Boulevard Social club in Philly.

I tend to block out my misses but remember my makes. Unfortunately I takes shots I have no business trying because I made it once and don't remember the twenty misses.

Some shots are so cool they're worth twenty tries. At least that's my motto in one pocket.

I use the spot shot to teach how to aim instinctively.

Pool without spot shots, is like peanut butter without jelly......or chocolate. ;)

I align the cue ball and object ball straight into the first diamond by the intended pocket then aim at edge of object ball with a center hit on the cue ball.

So how do you guys record a shot you miss so you can practice it later . I mist a few shots yesterday at the tournament and remember about where they were at but my short term memory sucks.

Shit... being able to forget those shots is a blessing...

Good process.
I just cannot play pool instinctively. When I try, there is this little voice inside my head that starts saying..."you're a dog, you're gonna' miss, they all know you're a chump".
On the other hand, (being a lead pipe cinch lock artist that I am), if I see the spot to hit and how thick or thin, that sucker is going in the pocket.
TOI or CTE eliminates "guessing" by reducing the number of choices
which leaves the mind open to combat the little mice running around inside it.
#1 Junk Food favorite: Peanut butter & Jelly sandwich on wheat bread and an ice cold glass of milk.
The system or method bashers on these sites are so lost in the past....it's a wonder they don't expect pool to still cost 5 cents a cue. Beats me.

I'm exactly the opposite. Often I'll run a table and then moments afterwards have no memory of several of the shots. But I can still remember misses from years ago.

Actually, everyone has a very good memory with strong enough recall cues. Science has yet to find anyone with a true photographic memory.

While some folks can recite an entire book back word for word, if they were asked to go to page 172 and read the sixth line down, they cannot. In other words, they are not memorizing a visual image.

Sorry for the nerd stuff...this explains why my pool game is so bad.

When I was a teenager, I worked for a blind man with an IQ of 170+ and he had a big library of books.

When you ask him a question, he would tell you what book, where the book was located, page number and where to start reading.

He went blind late in life from cataracts :(

For future reference, here's how that (the red line) compares with the accurate alignment. If you really hit a half ball from that close to the side rail the OB will hit the opposite side rail.
