It's quite sad. Fast Larry destroyed the unmoderated Google Group known as RSB, and the RSB-ers came here to the moderated pool forum known as AzBilliards. Now we have multiple-identitied and banned members posting on a moderated forum, and they ruin the atmosphere for quite a few, which is why many of us now post regularly on Facebook.

The main news page on the AzBilliards website is still great. I enjoy reading the pool news here, but it is no longer fun to quite a few people today to hang out on this forum as long as the multiple-identied and banned members posting continue to jump in and out of threads. In forum culture, they call this "trolling."

Jen your a horse of a differant color not only does the pool world miss you on the rail but here also on AZ ,, your passion and knowledge of the game from the inside is matched by very few ,, and no one has accumulated the pics you have shared along the way ,
We all lose when you pull back from the site ,,
We all might not agree where pool is ,what it should be or where's it's going and some take it way to far ,, I just wish you would dust your feet off and carry on
Because Az is a far better place when your in it :smile:

I agree, I sent Jennie a pm a short while back & I understand her reasons but still wish she would reconsider for all the reasons you list in your post.

Have we (us guys) become so vulgar and insensitive that our ladies have turned their backs to us, and walked away? Have we (us guys) turned this once beautiful island of cue sport camaraderie into a Good Old Boy's club of dope smokers, whiskey drinkers, and wise asses. Is that what we've done. Huh?
Well it's time for a change. Let's get it back the way it used to be. Boys and girls, girls and boys. You trolls, identify yourselves, then get the hell out of Dodge. You women haters, identify yourselves, apologize, then get the hell out of Dodge. All you league players, put down your smart phones, and blend in.
As for everybody else, remember that half the world is made up of girls and if it weren't for them there wouldn't be the other half.

The board has a variety of options to help out anyone who feels unfairly targeted, from the Ignore function to reporting posts or contacting the mods. It's a rowdy place, with an extra heaping of testosterone, and anyone expecting high tea shouldn't walk in the front door in the first place and migrate to FB or wherever else they can find solace, peace and harmony.

As someone who has had his fair share of screaming monkeys pop up from time to time, I know what I'm talking about. To deal with the trolls, stalkers, or multiple identities (real or perceived), play with them until they get boring, Ignore them, or just wait until they get far enough out of line to garner official attention.

This place is like an online pool room with smart people, stupid people; folks who know how to behave and others who can't; people with money and some without; guys who can play and others who cannot; and a huge number and variety with other characteristics.

If you can't deal with it: GO. Leave. But for God's sake, stop bee-atching and whining about it.

Good rant. Control freaks are best avoided in all walks of life. Ignoring them can be tricky, however.
 
One thing I have learned throughout the years is to tailor how I talk to people differently based upon what I know about them. Some people like humor. Some people prefer a no bs conversation. Some people like statistical conversations. That doesn't mean that I am not myself when I talk to them. I just remember who I am talking to, and I attempt to communicate with that person that best that I can based on what I know about them.

A forum can be difficult because there is very little accountability behind a screen name. Sometimes people post things that there isn't a chance in hell they would say that to the person face to face. I am even guilty of this sometimes...but I have gotten better at it in the last few years on here I believe (for the most part). I like to hear all types of viewpoints, including thoughts from the women. I do miss some of the contibutions from some of the women on here. It is always nice to see others viewpoints on subjects in the pool world.

If I were to go to a group where the majority of the populace are women, I wouldn't expect the atmosphere to be the same as in a group where most of the people are men. If a woman wants to hang here I think it's great. Just don't constantly moan about how it's not all warm and fuzzy.

I also miss the contributions from the distaff side.

And I would miss JAM were she to abandon us. But this place and other pool forums are filled with men and testosterone and it is what is. Either accept it and play with the boys or move on.

Maybe start a forum for female pool players. And if one us us guys should stumble in, knock us silly when we get out of line :-)

C'mon, Lou. Be a little less serious. Besides, I don't feel that testaster...testister...go juice has anything to do with it. I know from personal experience that Pink can tell you to go piss up a rope, in a heart beat, bless her little heart. I just think if it's our (the guys) fault, then we ought to say so. :smile:
 
You must be kidding Terry! Tim, aka The Thaiger, aka Ron Swanson (and probably several other identities) is one of the biggest trolls here. He's an idiot who provides no positive content or comments, and only serves to stir the pot whenever possible. He's been reported many times, but apparently is still allowed to post. :rolleyes:

Been dealing with a lot of stuff. Going tomorrow for some medical tests. This getting old shit sucks. I should post a funny from the other night though. Keep an eye out. Perhaps tomorrow I'll be feeling more like making my own thread.
