Stop Calling A Custom A Sneaky Pete

Doesn't matter because it is still called a sneaky pete.

Like I said, terms and names evolve.

Many words DEVOLVE from carelessness or ignorance...
...it's called 'words losing their currency'.

If someone tries to sell me a 'fancy sneaky'....
...I'm going to tell him to get lost...

pt....pedants "r" us

then I have some non-fancy, cut in half, Dufferins for you if that is what you like for the price of a fancy one.

A SP was a one piece cue off the wall cut in half and made into a 2 piece that when put together you had to look real close the see where it went together. It did not have a wrap or pretty little inserts in it.

Maybe 50 years ago they would fool a few, but today everyone has a 2 piece cue. Weather there a 2 ball runner or a 100 ball runner. Sorry...end of rant. Johnnyt

Sorry buddy, the horse has left the barn on this one.

The claim is that one road playing hustler, Peter Anthony Crisafi (born 1919), was to become known as "Sneaky Pete" after stealing a favorite house cue from a New York hall than having it sawed in half and jointed to take it with him wherever he wished!

Rant away Johnny...once you reach a certain age, you've earned the right to be a crusty old bastard!

Why does this matter at all?

Finally! Someone, other than myself, who has seen the absurdity of this whole thing.
Damn, haven't you guys got anything better to do. Who cares what you call a cue that's been sawed in half. It's no wonder this forum is in the condition it is.
How about we ask CJ what the hell you call these things, and be done with it.

What he said.

This isn't very informative :/

What do you want to know?
With so many cuemakers and hundreds of cue assemblers building conversion
cues, the "sneaky" title is all over the board.
This has been debated on AZ for years.

What about the cuemakers that don't use blanks, so their "sneaky" looking cues are actually short spliced cues?
The short spliced sneakies are really tough to name.
Bob Runde and Dave Kikel are two cuemakers I know that don't use full splice blanks.

Here's my beautiful Pechauer custom sneaky pete:

It's my cue and I can call it anything I want because words don't matter anymore.

YOU DAMN KIDS!! GET OFF MY LAWN!!! :D

with all due respect, I'da bet in his day, that particular old man could have given you the 6 and liked it.

speculative, I know.

I think some of you are just pissed because you bought a $400-$2000 Sneaky Pete cue that is just a run of the mill custom.

I think people who don't think it matters if you switch a meaning of a word are the same
guys who ask for the 7 and think they're getting the 8 with it....
...if you want the 8, you got to ask for it.
Words should mean something.

Now, if people will just stop calling a Plane Jane a Sneaky Pete, it may solve all of the
problems that the pool world has.....
....and lead to world peace.

Everything's gonna be all right... :happydance:

Who gives a crap... What does that have to do with him being a *****y old man. I never made a single statement about his ability to play the game.
