Capped or uncapped Ivory Ferrules

Good evening Azers,

I am about to get my shaft capped, no pun intended. but I want to know about your opinions having the Ivory ferrule either capped or strait through with the tenon flush to the ferrule ( don't know the terminology). I have an Ivory joint and wanted to hear what the expert opinions have to say on which one would be the best choice and why? Should I include the fiber pad?

I like uncapped ivory between 1/2" to 3/4" with larger tenon size and tip pad. Best of both worlds as you are lowering end mass and still able to have the hit and cleanliness of ivory. The shorter the ferrule the less the ferrule will contribute to the hit.

Nearly all of my ferrules are ivory. Some are longer and capped, others are shorter and not capped. I like them both ways. All have fiber pads.
