I know this question has been beaten to death, but thats my size room.

I'm seeing Diamond recommends 14x18.5' for a 58" cue. Brunswick recommends the same.

I'm at 14'3" sideways.

Will I have complications with a 9ft table??

4'2" Inside playing dimension. (50" rail to rail). +5' on both sides (min for cues)
=14'-2".
Go with the 9!!!!!!!!!
When ur cue is on the rail ur usually jacked up some. And even when not u usually are not using a long power stroke.
Get the 9'!!!!

Do it!

With a 58" cue, a 3" backswing, the CB frozen to the rail, and shooting perpendicular to the rail, you will "just" graze your wall by 1/2 inch.

That math is:
50 + 58 + 58 + 3 + 3 = 172"

Your room is:
14' 3" = 171"

Plus, since you have so much extra room in the other direction, you can put your chairs and other furniture on that side. Also, since you are so close, make sure you request the installers center the table absolutely perfectly in the room sideways.

Your 14'3" will be close. I have 14'5" with a diamond pro and there has been the occasional bump, but it's not an everyday problem.

thanks for the input guys! I'll go with the 9ft.

I'll have to get the floor redone and room refinished first.

I'm at 14' 3" width. It works. I guarantee you'll be fine. If you don't like it, I'll send you $50. If you love it, you don't have to send me anything.

Freddie <~~~ **** all the other advice

It's a great thought ( the table) to keep u focused during your project.
Believe me. And I did more than a little refinishing. Haha

Devils Advocate...food for thought...call it what you want...but...

You may want to consider the table size you'll mostly play "outside" of the home. If you're in leagues and play on 7' tables, then I would recommend taking that into consideration.

Again just something to consider...

That being said...I'd probably go with the 9' anyway! :p

Yes there will be problems but they make shorter cues. I have a cue called a trouble shooter which works okay. I'd rather do that on a few shots than have a bar box.

Personally I think that would be a little cramped, and I wouldn't do it. You also have to consider if you're stance or stroke is going to be hindered any time you're near a side rail. I have an 8.5' table in a 16' wide room and it's just "comfortable" as in I don't ever have to adjust anything to hit any shot (including back swing), but it's close.

Thats an awful small room and the smallest table I have ever heard of. I have a 9' diamond pro am and my room is 15'8". I like to step into my shot and I have plenty of room. My advice would be to go with the 9 footer.

The hall(less than 10mins way) I play in only has 2 9ft(brunswick gold medalist), 18-20 8ft(medalist also), plus 2 7ft tables. My first choice is always the 9ft table. I enjoy playing on the big table much much more. I don't do league nor have time for it.

My room is the same size as yours. A 9' Pro-Am fits fine. I use a 54" house cue maybe once every 2-4 hours of play. The 54" cue is too short, I could have got by with a 56". Also, I use a 30" shaft on my playing cue, so I probably use the short cue more than I would if I had a standard 29" shaft on it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics but they should give you a good idea of how it will look.

Next big question is diamond pro cut(4.5") or league cut(4.75") pockets ??

I'm merely a C player. I play 95% 8b, but really would like to start playing 9b more. Always very passionate playing pool, but only have time to head out to the pool hall maybe once 2x month. When my buddy and I can get together, we would play 6hrs of pool no problem. Heck I wouldnt go watch a movie, but would pay 10-20 bucks to watch a pool stream.

My 5 older brothers all play as we use to have a 7ft table when I was a kid. Most of them haven't touch a pool cue in years though.

I don't want it to be too though that no one wants to play.

very nice room dr.

Do you have more room on the side with the wall, verses the side with the window?n Yours is exactly 14'3?

Well....

I am a long armed 6' 3" guy who shoots with 61" Diviney cues and I allowed a minimum of 6' to the nearest wall. For me your distance would be tight. It may work ok for you with a 58" cue. I some times shoot with a friend who has a Gold Crown, one of his walls is to close even for him. He can move the table in his room to get rid of that problem, but has never done it, go figure.

I am a fan of the 9' table and any thing smaller seems odd to me. At least you will be shooting pool!

It will work if you don't have any obstructions on either side. You need all that room to shoot, with nothing blocking your stance or your cue.
