Anyone remember this game...?

Hi folks, I'm trying to remember the rules to a single player game I was introduced to a bunch of years ago. If I remember correctly the idea was that you started by breaking a full rack, then playing your first ten (or fewer) shots by shooting any balls you liked. Once clearing the table by shooting any balls in any order, up until there were only five balls left, at which point you had to play them in order.

If memory serves the scoring was that you got the point value corresponding to the numbers of those last five balls, so obviously you had to shoot the first ten or so balls off while making sure to leave large numbered balls until the end. Any miss or scratch ended your turn.

Has anyone played that game? If so can you help me with what it's called? Also, do I have the format correct?

It feels like your combining Rotation with Allen Hopkins Q-Skills. In Q-skills, you'd get two points per ball in the rotation phase (the last five balls).

Q-skills was the precursor to FARGO. Maybe your game was the precursor to Q-skills?

I started to do my practice routines similarly, I play a full rack of 8 ball, after sinking the 8 I play the remaining balls in order like 9 ball.

You get to both play with clusters and obstructing balls, then after that is done you get to play position for rotation games.

More fun than just practicing one game or the other I think.

Sounds good...start with BIH after break?

Not sure of the game but I will be incorporating in my practice routine

Fargo. Every ball is one point. Except when you switch to rotation, then each ball is two points. So if you pot any 10 balls, then switch to rotation, you would score 20 points if you ran out.

Make five balls in any order, switch to rotation and run out for 25 points. A full rack run out is 30 points.

Edit: Missed part of your post about the scoring - so not Fargo!
