World Pool Masters-Live Streamed

Excellent performance from Shane. 6 pack
Now only question is will the table break same way after Darren v Mark Gray match :D

Wow.

Have to say though, Liu is a superb player and I would have enjoyed seeing him play just a little bit more in that match!

EDIT: Thought it was a 7-pack, forgot Liu had a shot in the second rack.

I think it was a 6 pack, Liu gets to shoot in the 2nd game...

The quality is rising here in the late stages, with Mark Gray's four pack vs Ralf Souquet and SVB's six pack vs Liu Haitoao. This is remarkable.

Well, I might get some sleep tonight now they seem to have worked out the break on this table. There's been only 2 turnovers of visits in the last 14 frames. Shane to Liu and Liu to Shane in the 2nd frame of the last match.

Hope we don't have to wait 30 mins between matches.

Another B&R, 6-0. I can't think of a single American that would sit there like Liu is now without showing an expression. Brutal. A match like this ought to be alternate break.
Shane ended up winning 8-0. This is why I don't agree with winner breaks. People from all over the world travel for these kind of events and as a spectator, you'd expect to see at least some potential from the opposing player. It's not much of an exciting match if there's only one person playing on the table. For the player, having to travel to all the way to a different country without even able to put up a fighting chance is really unfair.

Freakish start to Gray vs Appleton as Appleton appeared heading for a run out in rack one only to find himself cushion hooked on the seven. Gray followed this unexpected win with a break and run and Gray leads 2-0.

The match turned on a dime when Gray hung a five ball in rack three and Appleton now enjoys a 3-2 advantage and will break rack six.

I think the real problem is the absence of a break box. It was decided long ago in our sport that nine ball with break form the kitchen is too easy for the top pros, and this had much to do with the emergence of ten ball.

I would agree that if you allow breaking form anywhere in the kitchen, alternate break is logical, but with a break box it is unnecessary.

Winner breaks is what the fans want, as packages make for exciting pool, but with these rules, I'm not sure it's sensible.

Gray loses his pattern in rack 9 when he gets dead straight on a four ball up the long rail and he can't get out. Darren makes a long, tough six ball and runs out for a 5-4 lead. This match has had a lot of ebbs and flows.

Appleton break and run gives him a 6-4 lead and a golden break makes it 7-4. Darren about to break on the hill.

It's all over as Appleton breaks and runs for the 8-4 victory.

Darren and Shane in the final. Mosconi Cup preview!

OK, we're off and running, Shane and Darren each make a safety play error in rack 1, but Darren made the last one, and SVB runs out for 1-0.
