World Pool Masters-Live Streamed

I think SVB would win in this format 30-15 if it were a race that far. His break is clearly superior and that puts pressure on Darren to play every tight frame perfectly.

SVB is just gonna put together too many 3+ packs with his monster break... not to mention his pattern play appears more effortless than Darren's.

It's all over. SVB the champ, winning by 8-2. Well played!

As always, thanks for the side-line reporting Stu - great to see Shane in stride and the classic duel with him and Darren.

I'm telling you - this is going to lateral over to a really stellar Turning Stone Classic!

The excitement builds!

This is how Earl used to win all those titles, with so many break and runs. He would put five, six and seven packs together in every match!

Dazz could've probably been up 4-2, but he dogs a couple of easy shots giving 2 games away.

Great win for Shane!

Yes unfortunitly there was only one capable of stringing racks together like Shane and unlike Shane who got giffed the opening match Ko fell ,, yes strong field but real short you don't play but a few of them

I think the real problem is the absence of a break box. It was decided long ago in our sport that nine ball with break form the kitchen is too easy for the top pros, and this had much to do with the emergence of ten ball.

I would agree that if you allow breaking form anywhere in the kitchen, alternate break is logical, but with a break box it is unnecessary.

Winner breaks is what the fans want, as packages make for exciting pool, but with these rules, I'm not sure it's sensible.
By break box, you mean by hitting near center of the head string?

This is stupid if you really think about it.

Imagine if in football the scoring team retains possession of the ball and gets to receive the kick off. You might get to see a team score 5 or 6 touchdowns in a row without the other team ever getting possession of the ball. Imagine if if were a race to 35 points. One team might win without the other ever having touched the ball. That sure would be exciting huh?

Imagine if the scoring team in basketball kept getting possession of the ball after every score until the other team was able to able to steal it and score? We might get to see a team rattle off 25 or more baskets in a row before the other team ever touched the ball. Wouldn't that make for some exciting basketball?

Imagine if in baseball it was a race to ten runs but there was no provision for the opponent getting an equal number of innings? You might see one team win with ten runs in a row without the other team ever having been at bat. How exciting huh?

There is a reason almost every major sport in existence has rules that stipulate that both sides get an equal number of chances to score or that the next possession goes to the other team after a score. Because it is stupid. It isn't fair to the players or the fans.

And although it adds excitement in one respect, it loses excitement in another. I mean yeah, it might be nice to see a team score 5 touchdowns in a row in football and win the game without the other team ever having ever had the ball, but on the other hand there wasn't the excitement of a battle, or of getting to see both teams attempt to be offensive. It might be cool to see 25 baskets in a row from a basketball team before the other team touches the ball but then you don't have a battle and miss seeing offense from both sides. The only reason people want winner breaks with pool is because that is what they are used to, the tradition, part of the game's identity, its all they know, it is just how it is and always has been. If it went exclusively alternate break for a number of years once people got used to it they would never want to go back to winner breaks, just like they would never want football or basketball to be a game where the scorer retains possession.
+1
I couldn't agree more.
