New Schmelke, for those on the fence

Hey also, I went to the Schmelke werbsite and they don't seem to indicate that they build personal custom cues... Kinda looks like a mass production cue company..

Let me get this straight. Because you were able to play perfect shapes on previous balls you never had to use much English and so this kid thought that you were not good because of that? Am I missing something here, the whole point of pool is to stay in line and use natural angles as much as possible, the less you have to do with the cue ball the higher % chance you will run out. That's how the top Asian pro's plays, they don't ever have to use much English and when they do use English it's really not a hard shot at all.

I wouldn't say perfect shape, but it was a darn good run; I play "economy of motion" when it comes to straight pool - never give the ball to the table. I guess he though it should look harder :-) Some of the newer guys play "creative" straight pool, but I like my way better - soooooooo.... I'm not changin' :-)

Darn this thread. I was doing ok until it came along. The OP's cue is awesome. I thought I was cured and could walk by a cue store. I'm currently working with Kim at Schmelke building an R010 bumperless. (PurpleHeart with premium BEM). Will have an 1.5 extended hoppe butt cap. Considered a wrap but it will be wrap-less. Shaft 29.5 @ 13.2mm pro taper. 5/16-18. Joint collars to blend with butt cap.
I know my wife will be pissed when she finds it. If she takes it and leaves I'm gonna miss it:)

Ha! I told Kim the bumper less orders would come in...

It really is a super nice cue, from my perspective. I like what works, and undrilled bumper less works for me. To me it has a timeless look. Love to see yours when it comes in -

So I ordered a purple heart no bumper 29.5 shaft @ 13.25. Pro taper. 29.5 butt with 1.5" combo butt cap. Combo joint collars.

I'm thinking of getting another Purple Heart with a UniLoc to go with my Pred & OB shafts.

Another cue? Lordy! You mentioned a Schmelke just last Sunday and bingo. Didn't take long. Is an intervention in order or just a stint in rehab?

Out of control here. YOUR FAULT. Kim from Schmelke spent a good amount of time (phone/emails) communicating and helping me design a not so fancy sneaky.
I'm also going order a wood/wood something with a UniLoc joint to accommodate my Predator and OB shafts.
Glad my wife did not hear me on the phone with Kim. She said if I buy anymore cues she will take them and leave. Man..I will miss my cues.

They customize any cue they sell. Contact them. No hassle, no pressure. Very pleasant to work with.

I don't normally like the look of purpleheart cues, but this is nice. Also I love the feedback and sound of purpleheart cues when you strike the ball. While I do prefer the look of other woods such as Cocobolo and Ebony, when it comes to playability, feel and sound, purpleheart is better IMO.
