★ world 9 ball championship ★ qatar★

That was an unreal shot, and then the hill hill match, the 4 follows the 8 into the pocket, and he makes the pressure cut on the 7 to fall on the nine. Nerves of steel in that guy

No fear in that guy. He had everything to gain and nothing to lose. Neil must be so gutted and disappointed. To lead by 8-4 on an alternate break format and then to lose to a never heard of (at least to me) opponent must be very painful indeed.

There were some bad comments and offensive stuff posted earlier so they went to a delay to filter out the bad stuff.

Like all things that are good, a few will eventually ruin it for everyone. :frown:

Aye, I saw a few bad comments. They should just bar those who use abrasive comments.

Whew! Niels will be shaking his head for a long time to come.

Damn they're pitting the Filipinos to fight each other, in the final 64 Warren Kiamco has to play Faraon and Lee Van Corteza has to play Carlo Biado. And this will be exciting, Jeffrey Ignacio against Jason Klatt in a grudge match, let's see if Klatt calls him out again on the pattern racking. Shane has an easier match against Kaplan. Mike will have trouble with Kevin Cheng.

So much for how alternate break makes it so difficult to overcome when you are behind in the count.

:( There is something wrong in the FINAL 64 LIST. Where is Oliver Medenilla? He won over Kristansen in Group 5 with a score of 9-6 earlier but is not on the final 64 list. Out of the 11 pinoys, only 2, Israel Rota and Felecilda were eliminated, so there should be 9 of them but I can only see 8 on the list, 6 in the upper bracket and 2 in the lower one:

Group 5:

Final 64 as of 12:09 pm US EST:

===============================

EDIT: I can see where they made a mistake now. They confused the 2 OLIVERS (Medenilla and Ortmann), so it should be Medenilla vs Skowerski on the lower bracket tomorrow. I am sure they will make a correction later.

SKOWERSKI (Karol) vs ORTMANN (Oliver)

I thought Ortmann lost ?

:D Correct. And it is much more impressive when a player manages to come back from a big deficit and then win the match.

Not really, because you know it was only because his opponent made a bunch mistakes or got unlucky on the break a few games in a row.

That's a far cry from keeping your opponent glued in his chair for four or five games in a row because you're out there running racks.

:embarrassed2: I believe they confused the 2 OLIVERS. It should be OLIVER MEDENILLA VS KAROL SKOWERSKI. I am pretty sure they will make the correction soon.

IMO upper bracket : Kiamco, Corteza,Biado,Immonen,Woo,Souquet, etc...

But then in the lower bracket, you have little Ko, Yukio, Johann Chua, Yang, Mike Dechaine, Yu Chang, and of course, Darren Appleton, Dennis Orcullo and SVB.

Both brackets are super-tough.

On a separate note, this topic comes up a lot on the forum but I feel that nine ball with the magic rack makes alternate break absolutely necessary!

Finally, I love single elimination once the qualifying rounds are finished. No room for error is where it's at. Nothing weeds out the champions more than single elimination. Whoever wins six matches without a loss in the next round will have truly earned their world championship, but the real winners will be the fans watching players constantly fighting for their tournament lives.

I love this tournament! And, as JAM would say, USA all the way.

3 americans

DECHAINE

VAN BOENING

LOMBARDO

Great luck guys!
