They won't rent you a room for the tournament. My pops been calling trying to secure rooms and gets the run around. He been trying for weeks. Pretty upset about it actually!

The property may be on shaky financial ground, last I heard. The event promoter has been very silent about things. One can only speculate.!

Kid, they released the rooms for the tournament a couple of days ago. They are a tad more expensive this year.

Why would you post something like this?
Do you think Caesar's is going to close?
And then you say: The promoter has been silent - uuuhhh maybe they are working and don't have time to address rumors on AZB.

WOW!!!!!!

(PS tell Dennis I said hi. Tell him to reign in his kid!) lol

Mr. Griffin,

I am a big fan of yours and you may not know that? Pops is there almost every year and me too. School has been in the way lately.

1. You do not know how upset he has been trying to book rooms and been unable!
2. All the prior years the booking of rooms has been available a long time ago
3. Lou echo's this point with his first post in this thread
4. Ceasar's closed the prior home of the southern classic, I was told
5. Ceaser's is restructuring it finances and this was mentioned in another thread

regarding this passage of my post quoted below you ask "WHY":

"The property may be on shaky financial ground, last I heard. The event promoter has been very silent about things. One can only speculate.!"

My comment was more about the lack of information and updates then anything else. I even eluded and specifically state "One can only speculate". To me this means we are all left "Guessing". For some reason you have me pegged as the debbie downer of the forum and perceive my comments as destructive in some way when they never are. I mean well as do most others that take the time and post on this forum. You would rather read me the riot act based on the tone of your post, then acknowledge the helpful part I posted about "low airfares for derby". This thread went off course when LOU took it there with his post.

Staying positive and focusing only on the the one sentence above, i think you can see this comment was not negative and not intended to deter people from attending. If i was trying to tear it down then why do you believe i posted about the airfare sale?

I took a moment to respond and answer your question. Please answer mine above.

P.S. pops reels me in all the time and I love having him there to do it.

Yeah I was the one that originally posted on this and some were quick to jump on me too. Once again I do hope everything will be fine and continue on as is.

As far as rooms, I want to go to DCC but its too far out for me to know for sure. By the time I know for sure they will prob be booked solid. However, if I am able to go I most likely will go with a real good buddy of mine that is a 7 Star with Caesars. Supposedly they are garunteed a room anywhere anytime with 48 hours notice. Guess we will see, if not we will be the guys in lobby with sign " need room " lol.

lol, can't remember the last time I spoke up in someone's defense, only to have them throw me under the bus immediately thereafter.

i would assume that since Joe Tucker just posted a thread 2 days ago of them moving Am Rotation Finals to DCC (from the Open) and doubling the contestants, that perhaps he knows more on Caesar's situation, and can alleviate any concerns.

Derby airfare specials

Because you asked me to respond to your question, I will. You are owed that courtesy.

I took offense to the 'suggestion' or 'insinuation' that since there has been no comments from the promoter that 'one can only speculate' - andi think that has a negative connotation. Coupled with the 'shaky ground' comment, also suggests uncertainty or trouble. Corporations go bankrupt all the time. Is it possible some of the Caesars locations may close? Yep.

Do you think I would know if it was going to close? Just to state that the promoter 'should' make a response is a little curious. Diamond has signed contracts for the venue. I'm quite certain the event will go on as scheduled. I'm also sure that diamond doesn't have the time to address posts on AZ Billiards. They probably don't even know the thread exists.

I did think it was cool of you to post about the airfares. I'm sure Diamond and Derby City appreciate it. And I'm not speaking for them in any fashion.

I just think your choice of words were presented to cause doubt. I also think I over reacted - and probably should not have responded. You state you mean well with your posts. That's good enough for me. Intent can be an important ingredient in any action or discussion.

And that's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.

Mark, you and I have discussed this personally: any company in today's day and age which does not use social media -- such as this forum -- to interact with its customers is negligent.

Billiard companies and promoters need to be here providing accurate, timely information about their products and events or they have no one to blame for rumors but themselves.
