Got a few questions, i know it last longer on the tip, but does it provide more spin compared to other chalks ?
 
I found it to be a slightly better chalk IMO, but not so much better as to justify the price. I think that if like most people you chalk every shot or two (or three) you really won't notice a difference between the Kamui and some other good quality chalk.
Amount of spin depends on you and amount of English applied

You will know if the table you are about to play on has been played on by someone using Kamui Chalk.. The crap is everywhere.. It sticks to the balls and causes mishits and skids.. It also makes long bright green streaks on the cloth that are like paste if you touch them..

The stuff stays on your tip, but it makes a mess of everything else.. Wish this could be remedied but I think this is the nature of this chalk.

You should chalk every shot as a PSR anyway, so just get a nice piece of Masters and have at it.. :)
 
If you chalk after almost every shot like most players do then the type of chalk doesn't matter at all. You can still miscue even if you chalk after every shot because you hit the CB wrong, chalk or no chalk. The great chalk conspiracy. To pay high prices for a certain type of chalk is insane but it is good marketing. The most successful companies CREATE a market for their products and as usual....shine a light and they will follow it anywhere.

Who cares what he uses?

I'll play him even one pocket and I'll use Masters.. :)

Its not the chalk.. its everyone trying to solve the problem of mis-cues (which comes from a bad bridge mostly)

Kamui chalk is fine, it just makes a mess... (it does not give you more or less spin)

Here here. Masters does the job as well as any other brand.
 
As for the poster, no it will not give you more spin. But evidence suggests it dirties up a table/balls due to its pasty composition.

Basically it's about choice:

I strongly dislike chalking after each shot, as such I strongly dislike Masters chalk.
Also I like finer chalks with less abrasive, as such I dislike Masters.
Even when playing Carom I will not chalk before each shot and it's not needed. Nor do the other guys who are not using Masters ;)

The price is in any way ridiculous, that's for sure :rolleyes:

I agree with everything said here. That said, there's nothing wrong with keeping a cube of chalk in your bag for those moments when chalk isn't available. I have a cube of Kamui. I haven't used it in ages but it's there in case I'm playing and no chalk is available.

Where do you play that doesn't have chalk available and why would you play there?
 
I played APA, and many of my matches were scheduled in bars. Unlike in a poolhall, table (singular, always a barbox) is not always in tip-top shape.
Need to warm up, as not to be surprised by dead rails, and table leans. I learn to bring my own moose head bridge, and chalk. Asking for chalk or where is the bridge usually gets a shrug response from the bartender.

When I play in NYC, I never have a problem but there are occasions where I'll find myself in a different city playing pool and I stumble upon a room that lacks ideal equipment. I was recently in San Diego at O Zone Billiards. Great tables but everything else was suspect. I ended-up playing a coworker so nothing really mattered but if I decided to match-up, I would have been itching for a decent piece of chalk.

Yes, that's not to mention, it's sometimes very random what type of chalk bars do end up getting, if they have any to begin with. I don't play in bars nearly as often as I used to which is a shame since NYC now has several bars that have Diamond smart tables.
 
I have terrible chalking habits so I moved to Magic Chalk and love it. I was always under the impression that the chalk could effect how much grab you can get on the cb. Now I believe it was just my terrible chalking habit and although I'm trying to set a better psr Magic Chalk still saves my a$$ and at a much cheaper price.

As for Kumui chalk, I know of a couple places that won't even let you play with it because it gets so messy.
 
Thanks everyone for the replies, I chalk on every shot, sometimes twice, so no need for this chalk.

Depends on the shooter. it might be a very slight improvement for some players.
I think it really depends on the tip the cloth and the shooter's ability.
