I don't recall seeing a poll like this. I could be wrong. That being said I prefer Gold Crowns. How about you?

Where is Gandy Big G on the list?

Anyway, my real answer is any 9 foot table that rolls straight. I love to shoot those long slow rolling shots that take two days to finally reach the pocket.

Never really played much besides GC's. I'm a small town turd, don't get out much.

No multiple choice?

Actually I love both: 9" DIAMOND's and 9" GOLD CROWN' s

If the table is all in all in a good shape, beeing straight, with rightly reacting banks , a quit new SIMONIS 760 or 860 and finally some new ARAMITH TV-Balls, that would just be heaven on Pool Earth for me!

Btw, if I vote right, can I win a 9" Gold Crown or DIAMOND table? If yes, I send you immediately a PM with my private adress, where you can send the parts of it! OK?

I'm always torn on this question...if I had a tricky position shot or a snooker to hit, I'm
better off if I'm on a Gold Crown....it's a familiarity thing....

..but I voted Diamond, 'cause it's a GC with the bugs taken out....no name plate to
scrape your knuckles, no jacked up over a pocket 'cause you can't rest your cue on
that plastic....he'll, those Brunswick designers even came up with ashtrays for the
corner-pieces.......it's like buying a car that was designed by a guy who didn't have
a driver's license.

I would've preferred to see Gabriels on the list instead of Olhausen...
...Gabriels is competive with Brunswick or Diamond.

...but Diamond has the best pockets by far.

G O L D C R O W N ! A table made for enjoyment, running out and having fun! Built to last as well. No funny banking cushions, no good shots hanging up, no hard shots hitting the pocket rim and bouncing back on the table. The plastic pockets sticking up a bit is a price worth paying for never having a ball bounce back out IMO.

If I had to fire a ball down a rail as hard as I can hit it, I want it to be on a Diamond.
I've played on lots of GCs with five inch pockets that would spit a ball out....
...with Diamond, into a smaller pocket, it stays in.
....RKC explained what's wrong with the pocket angles....I still love GCs, and I think
they're worth Diamondizing.

We have GCs and Diamond in our room, and everybody I've tested can fire a frozen ball
down the long rail better on a Diamond, even though the pocket is smaller.

I didn't adress the along the rail shot specifically., you may be right about that, as I don't have the opportunity to directly compare. What I was talking about was shots where you have an object ball close to, lets say a side pocket and you have to elevate and power the shot in. The rim sticking up prevents the ball from bouncing out. On the Brunswick Metro tables there was a flaw in the pocket design, but the GC never had this problem.

Try shooting hard down the rail on an Olhausen...Admittedly I have tried only one of these tables, but it appeared to me to have been designed by a conglomerate of psychiatrists and pool coaches in scheme to drum up more business...

I have a Gold Crown that has had the rails rebuilt by RKC. I love shooting banks on that table. Lots of fun, and it plays great.

I didn't vote because I've never played on a Diamond, and thus have no way to compare it to my GC.

Pluses and minuses for both tables. Hitting a ball hard down the rail should stay in the pocket on both tables and I play on double shimmed GC's usually. The diamond has a slight lip in the front of the pocket to hold those hard shots in consequently a soft roller gets held out of the pocket. I know. It cost me a bunch of money on a 9 ball break and run on a Diamond last month. I also like the sound of a center pocket hit on the Gold Crowns unlike the muffled sound of the diamonds.

^^^^^ agreed about Olhausen....but that is the best explanation I've heard. :rotflmao:

Really do like Diamonds, that's what our local hall has, I have an Annivesary that I also really like. Play on Olhausens and Gandys in AZ, the Gandys are much better than the Olhausens which are my least favorite table.
