Hi there,
Go check out snookerbyb.com – it has a comprehensive list of snooker venues in the U.S. The list has been built by the Snooker Byb team, we are located in Oregon and we love snooker.

The list contains around 100 venues in the U.S. The team verified every single venue by giving them a phone call and asking about snooker tables. Most of the “venues” are really just single snooker tables in a bar, but some are proper clubs!

Say thank you to Snooker Byb for building this awesome list!
Miguel

P.S. Snooker Byb is a new product for the snooker community, being built by a team of snooker enthusiasts from Oregon. Help them by becoming a Snooker Byb ambassador - www.snookerbyb.com/ap

Hi Miguel,
I've signed up, thanks and also want to let you know that I'm getting database errors on your website when I click on players or places to play!

Also in places, how would I get my home room/table listed?

According to my records, there are about 300 venues in the U.S. with snooker tables.

I'd be surprised if snookerbyb.com weren't using data from findsnooker.com and Patrick Guigui's snookercanada.ca as starting points. Our lists have been online for a while.

In at least one case (website for Southaven Recreation Center in Mississippi) the snookerbyb.com folks found some new info, though. That's nice.

Rethunk - nice to hear you. Are you the person behind findsnooker.com?
What we did at Snooker Byb - we called every single venue that we could find in the US and verified with them that they have snooker venues. And yes, we used the list from findsnooker.com. What we ended up with is a smaller list, but completely verified.

Check it out: http://snookerbyb.com/usa/venues

As for Canada - we got our list from Patrick and now working with him on syncing our verified list to make them as good as possible.

Jason - thank you for signing up! We remember about your feedback. A new version is being approved by Apple now, that will have the ability to register your place as a venue. We will keep in contact with you over the email. Thanks again! Miguel

I'm the administrator, but the community here on AzBilliards drives findsnooker.com. The site wouldn't exist without contributions from the community of AzBilliards users and other players who have posted here and sent me emails. The posts and emails together number in the thousands.

The initial work to compile the data took many weeks. In 2009 there was no online list of snooker tables for the whole country. Only some tables could be found by googling, and many leads were dead ends. Some pool hall employees suggested other pool halls to contact. A number of people on AzBilliards reviewed the site and helped revise the data. A list provided by Alan Morris of the United States Snooker Association (http://www.snookerusa.com/) included entries that would've been difficult to find otherwise. The slow buildup is recorded in various posts here on AzBilliards.com.

After the first few months there were too many people to thank individually for their contributions. None of them asked for credit, but they all deserve it. Maintaining the website is my thanks to them.

It's not feasible to call every site regularly, so for the past five years findsnooker.com has relied on members of the community to report openings and closings, to correct the reported size of tables, and so on. Statistically it's inevitable that some number of listings will be inaccurate, but these inaccuracies get corrected over time.

To be clear: no single person or small group of people compiled a list of U.S. snooker tables in 2009 or in any of the years since. A large community is responsible for the list on findsnooker.com, their work has been online for years, and they deserve credit for it.

As for Canada - we got our list from Patrick and now working with him on syncing our verified list to make them as good as possible.

Originally a friend and I were compiling data for Canada, but we gave what we had to Patrick and he's done a wonderful job of building up listings for Canada. He's also done a lot to promote snooker in Canada. As I mentioned in my PM to you, it was Patrick who confirmed for me two months ago that you were using the data from both our websites.

Your website doesn't currently acknowledge AzBilliards.com, http://www.findsnooker.com, or http://www.snookercanada.ca/. Please acknowledge these sites on your website and in your apps as the original sources for the data you're using.

Although it's impractical to identify by name every contributor, especially since many (like myself) would prefer to remain anonymous, please also find a way to publicly acknowledge the massive collective effort over the past six years that made these lists possible.

You will best serve the community by acknowledging its contributions.

Apologies

Dear all,

In regards to the acknowledgement of the sources for snooker venues in the U.S. as listed on www.snookerbyb.com/usa

I'd like to apologize to the users of this forum for not thanking them for painstakingly collecting a long list of snooker venues and then publishing it on findsnooker.com. And while Snooker Byb team did good work like calling and verifying a lot of venues and searching for venues not present in that list, majority of the names came from findsnooker.com

It was always our intention to get in contact with the people behind findsnooker.com and the individuals that helped assembling the list published at findsnooker.com. You guys are AWESOME! And thank you for keeping snooker alive in the US :). My personal task in asana.com says "contact people behind findsnooker.com" and is dated November 2015. It is my fault that I didn't realize that I simply should have asked "who built findsnooker.com" on this forum.

In regards to the Canadian venues list:
Snooker Byb formally partnered with Snooker Canada recently. We greatly respect and value what Patrick does for snooker in Canada. And of course we clearly publish our partnership with Snooker Canada here: www.snookerbyb.com/canada

Rethunk, please excuse our team for the mistake we made. We can and should edit the page http://www.snookerbyb.com/usa . We are building Snooker Byb for you, and we want you to influence what Snooker Byb does.

Mike @ Snooker Byb

P.S. Hello from Portland, Oregon

Drsnooker -
Could you download the app and register your venue? It's quite easy - while being at your venue open the 'record' page, tap on the 'venue', and it will find your venue on google and it will automatically pull the address and location from google. All you need to do is to confirm.

Thanks for following up, and thanks for posting attribution on the website. When I get a chance to update findsnooker.com I'll post a link to your site as well.
