Cue construction Preference and why?

Full splice.
For me it has always had the most solid and purest hit of all the cues out there.
At least of the cues I have tried.
The rest of the options you mentioned I don't care about.
Points, inlays, recut points......or not...could care less.

Love 'em all. I've made short splice, inlaid and recut short splice cues. I've always been in love with the precision required for full splice and great butterfly splice cues.

I love big pins, small pins, piloted joints, ss collars, wrapped, not wrapped, whatever.

I don't like most bumpers, tho. Most of them look slapped on and tacky.

As far as hit, as long as it doesn't rattle too much and moves the cueball in a forward motion, I don't really care.

I too like a full splice but here is a bit of food for thought.

What can be more 'solid' than a one piece butt made of solid wood?

When Bob Meucci was testing cues for his Black Dot shaft comparisons, he did the stock hit with a Adam Balabushka made by Richard Helmstetter who later went on to Callaway Golf Fame.

The cue hot with rather little deflection or squirt. He commented that is must be a very well made BUTT. He did so because he knew that it could not be because of the stock 13mm shaft.

Meucci now has what he calls the Power Piston Butt.

Just some food for though about what the 'solid hit' may actually really be about.

I really love rings in a pool cue design and the fancier the better.........unable to get that same design effect with full splice cues.

That food for thought has a lot of artificial flavoring .
