I'm relocating to Santa Clarita, CA in the next three weeks. Yay!

First thing on my list is to find the best poolrooms in the Los Angeles area.

Where do the 14.1 players hang out? Here's what I found after a quick search...

Are these it? Which ones have 14.1 players?

LA area? John Schmidt is in Victorville. He plays pretty sporty, but that's a drive. Some major tournaments are at Hardtimes in Bellflower but I don't recall any 14.1 there. Marop should know.

Thanks Bob, I pinged Larry Ross and he had the same response. Victorville isn't too bad a drive. Maybe I'll try to catch him. Definitely starting to look like Hardtimes in Bellflower is the spot to hit too. Maybe you and I can one day have our rematch, although you're about 4hrs away. Haha

Four hours with a Ferrari and a police escort. Send the Ferrari and I'll arrange the escort. Red is OK.

Welcome to So Cal !

With traffic, Hard Times is about 2 hours from Santa Clarita, & LA about one hour, but if you can avoid "rush hour" (from 6am to 8pm !) you should be OK

Although you should definitely check out those rooms, given your location, you should drop by Plush Pocket in Northridge. The chance of walking into any So. Cal poolroom and finding someone playing 14.1 is probably pretty small, but one of the locals should be able to fill you in on the scene.

Welcome to California!

Thanks guys, I don't mind driving to a good place. I head out Saturday, should arrive by late Friday. I plan to stop at Grand Canyon for a bit.

A few months late...but here are some pics from my cross country relocation

So, have you found any straight pool out there?

Unfortunately not yet. One guy at Sal Butera's room (Buteras Billiards) offered to teach me one pocket. I declined. Then he offered to play me 14.1, I declined when he told me what his high run was. :)

I miss New York City, so easy to match up with 100 ball runners.

*sigh

Did his high run end in a "-teen" by any chance?

LOL...I don't mean to rag on someone's game. Just hard to enjoy 14.1 if I'm not playing someone who is going to make me hurt when I miss. :)

At Sal Butera's place, you were 7 miles away from where Bill Maropulos lives. He has a beagutiful metro table and only plays straight pool.

Straight Pool is the only game. :)

*ducking

Not sure how to get in touch with him, if he wants to shoot some happy to go to Butera's.
