Leather Wrap Groove Depth

Aloha all,

I have a couple of cues that I may be interested in swapping Irish linen wraps for smooth leather wraps and was wondering about the possible differences in material thicknesses.

Does a leather wrap require a deeper groove than one used for Irish linen, or does it depends upon the type of leather?

I like the smooth leather wraps and am wondering if any modifications may need to be made to the cue in order to change from linen to leather.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If the leather is around .022"-.025" thick, all will be needed are some sanding and razor blade/file.

Get in touch with jazznpool. You can see some threads by him in the machinery section. He's got the thicknesses your looking for.
