Dennis calls Shane out for 20k

Not really sure where the bad blood thing comes from. I had never heard of it before this.

Dennis was not exactly Mr. Happy at the World 9-ball Championships when SVB drilled him.

It was also SVB that called the foul on when Dennis attempted to use a object ball to make a measurement and that was not a pleasant little conversation at the time.

Dennis is a pretty serious competitor and he does not like to lose. Lately every time he has played SVB all he does is lose over and over and it seems to be getting to Dennis a bit.

It is one thing to have a fierce rivalry between two champions that goes back and forth, it is another thing when one champion starts to make the other guy into his personal punching bag. Dennis has been getting beat on pretty consistently by SVB and has not managed to do much damage back.

I as well as from what I can gather several other people thought that Dennis was Hatch.

Most people say Orcullo as opposed to Dennis since Dennis has been around for a long long time and already paid his dues 10x over.

John,

I like you a lot, and we're cool. But you're in a bad game against Lou. You have too much heart, which is good, but sometimes it's bad.

But you were the one who cancelled all bets in the Action Room regarding your match against Lou, including my bet.

Truth be told, I offered to stake Lou for 20k, but Lou declined.

Here's my offer, if the match between SVB & DO goes off -in the same condition as Mars said- I'll take SVB -20 games , 2:1 odds for me.

There I said it.

Yeah I did but I already allocated the money elsewhere AFTER his corporation IGNORED the FOUR TIMES I offered to double the bet prior to the match.

Let me repeat that.

I offered in public on this forum FOUR TIMES to double the bet to $20,000 as long as we freeze it up.

FOUR TIMES.

So I didn't feel like letting them bet more at the venue.

I recently offered to bet 20k on a rematch. All my OWN money.

But guess what, glad he declined.......

This is already making me money

What game?

SVB is very hard to beat in a long set when he is on his game. He plays most games very well and it seems as though many try to make rules in an effort to slow his game down.

Lets play it the old fashioned way. Bet your own money, winner breaks and break from any where in the kitchen.with a paid neutral racker. Play races to 15 in 9 Ball and races to 11 in 10 Ball. Do it for 5,000.00 a set and play till some one runs out of their 20,000 bucks or drops from exhaustion.

Who wants to get it on with SVB under those conditions?

Of all the people to stream, they pick AZBTV. Great we can hear repeatedly for days how good the food is at (enter pool hall location here), how hungry they are and what they ended up having for dinner. Oh yeah we could get a nice higher per day price compared to the US Open. Hooray!!!!

Yeah, you did say that. You wouldn't have done that, either. Fact is, Mrs B. was not letting you play for that kind of money. Not then, not now, not ever.

Smart gal.

People don't seriously think Dennis [Hatch] would be calling out Shane, do they?

I think Dennis is better at 9 ball and 10 ball than Efren was in his prime. Now, Efren was a better overall player, but I doubt Efren would win in long race against Dennis even in his prime.
We'll never know this because they play(ed) in such different times. The equipment has entirely changed the game. Even Diamond tables in 94 are entirely different. But it's still fun to debate it.

Racking your own with magic rack is huge. I believe that if Efren would have had the magic rack back then, he would have destroyed Orcollo. He would have destroyed many people that him fits in 9 ball. The entire landscape would have changed. And they maybe would have had to ban it. The rack is no longer about power and reading the rack. It's about control and precision. Nine on the break is no longer the biggest shot in pool, as far as tv is concerned. You can have a perfect rack every time. His weakness was always the break, mainly power. And he still usually overcame it. Today it has nothing to do with power.

One reason he able to dominate 1-hole was the break, which all about control. His imagination and control took over after the break. I wonder what spots '1994 Efren' would have been giving with magic rack in 1-hole!? 1994 May have become the Buddy and Efren show tournament after tournament. Afterhours after afterhours. It probably would have been banned, especially because people were much more traditional back then.

A possible nemesis in rotation games back then with magic rack would have been Denny Searcy. He could shoot the same shot over and over to perfection.

If Lou wants to come to OKC and play we can arrange it for up to 100k in 2015 - there I said it.

You can back all of it IF you can get your horse off the porch. Here I am. If such a match ever gets booked I will bear down and practice right. Last time I dogged it and wasn't ready and when showtime came I was about to simply let Lou have the 3k showup money.

You can verify this with JoeyA as I called him to talk to him about it before the match.

Lou simply cannot win if I am in form. Period. There I said that too and if I had a million dollars to back it up I would. Someday I MIGHT try to book a match for St. Louis if I feel like it but it would need to be for 20k+ and your boy is SCARED TO LOSE. That's why he declined. I had him beaten almost every game even playing like a donkey.

So you guys work on him and I will work harder making more embroidered items and putting a couple bucks per case back for the match that will never happen. I am a crap player but I know when I am better than someone else and I am better than Lou and always have been.

Fully agree. Dennis is a great power player and of course he has some of the Filipino magic for moving the cue ball but he is no Efren. Efren's arsenal of shots may never be equaled.

The power break was Efren's weakness and we saw it in the Color of Money match with Earl surging to a long lead. But Efren just kept coming back with out after out. Efren in his prime would not have been easy to beat for any modern player and he isn't easy to beat even now for any of them.

that obviously wasn't intentional.
There is a YouTube video of Efren playing Wu a couple years ago. Challenge match on something like Big Time pool, it was in The Philippines. Anyway, Efren just toyed with him. Iirc, it was a short race. And Wu thought Efren was just lucky. Actually, I believe Efren was very intentional in his play. Even playing some really tough runouts and carom wins, just to intimidate the kid. All the times when he could have locked him up. Other times played incredible total lock up safes that were so incredible, they appeared lucky. At one point, Iirc there was about a three shot run ending with a carom that was phenomenal. Great match. Wu was livid, totally lost his table composure. Not Earl-like, but just a mental breakdown.

Sorry, at work and can't look it up right, now.

I doubt Efren was toying with him. Efren is trying to win all the time by shooting what he knows is the right shot for him even in cheap money games. His make percentage for "incredible" shots is simply higher due to his higher level of knowledge and skill for those types of shots. Often there is some luck in that even Efren wouldn't pocket them with a high average BUT it's not luck in that Efren knows the right paths to maximize the chances of success.

I'm really curious what the stream cost will be.

Does anyone know is that 40 game cutoff per day actually 40 games or one player wins 40 games?

this particular carom shot that Yang made...look where the 5 ball is...before he shot the 4 ball, I saw only two reasonable routes to the 5...two rails underneath or above the 9. the fact that he hit the bottom rail and because the 9 laid a little "high" suggests to me that he was playing position for the 5 using the 2 rail route above the 9.

besides, look where he landed had the 9 not gone in. he hooked himself.

The only way it could work over 4 days - is a race to 40 day 1.
Then when either player reaches 80 games day 2
day 3 -120 and
day 4 -160
They could play a total of 319 games over 4 days if it goes hill hill.
Who is in better shape for a marathon?
Ill take Shane.
