Road Trip

Depends on the route...no doubling back, will get together with J. Tucker when in RI, does he play there? Then on to Portland, gotta friend who builds boats in his home, he acquired a Button factory bldg., from back in the day when Abalone/shells were plentiful.
Again guyz thx. This trip is not just a gambling trip, but that will take place here and there for sure, and I'm sure I'll see many ''old hats'' tho were thinnin' out.

Tucker is in the area of Snookers but I very rarely see him there. I think I ran into him twice in the years I've been going there which started maybe a year or two before they moved to their new location. Mike Dechaine is there quite often though and so is Mike Webb (the cue maker).

You won't get a lot of gambling action in Ayer MA, but the room has more atmosphere than most, just a great place to hang out and talk with the owner. Look up the NEUSAPL on facebook and you'll see many pictures of the room. If you are in the area on Sunday, going there for the junior league is recommended, the guy that runs it does a lot for the game and the kids, he is worth meeting, as are the kids.

Any recommendations on which rooms I should NOT miss?

Now if Fran would offer me the couch in NY, I'd accommodate.

Hey Bill...if you're going to come through Chicago, I'd meet up with you at Chris's and we could do some sociable One Pocket gambling.

I'll give ya a shout out....family & cousins in the immediate area. Chris's.... ahh been there before.

If you happen to make it through Louisville, Ky., stop in @ Bankshot. Nothing but 9' Diamonds and GC's. It is easy to find a one pocket game for as much as you want to gamble.

Shelbyville makes me think of my x boss John Lewis who ran the BCA leagues for 14 years, and women's basketball at it's best. Lewis still listens to the HS bb games to this day. Doubt I'll be in the middle of the country, but ya never know, weather in Jan. can be a little to fun in the Midwest delta area.

New Orleans make sure you check out lacys cues and buffalo billiards great rooms with great action once in florida make a run bye ocala florida 4 good rooms with older gentle men one pocket all day every day good tournaments couple nights a week

Heading from Ohio, before you get to Chicago is a nice pool hall in Griffith Indiana, Griffith Billiards.

Will do....on the pm.....just as long as they are safe rooms outside in the parking lot after hours. I long ago coulda gone to the rack, but didn't for that reason, I just didn't wanna chance it, been in tough places before, and that Dyke Bar in Long Beach....Que Sera Sera 1977, the bouncing boobies at the door protecting the heard, were almost as big as the two gals that owned this bar and bar tables right next to the Great Lakes naval base north, outside Chicago....230 lb, never did ask her her weight :killingme:, she was 6'3" give or take. The other one was BIG too, not obese, what a pair. They coulda kicked ANY frickin' guys ass who was there for basic training, and they didn't smile too much.

CO -

Mile High Billiards in Arvada

Felt's in Denver

Both places where sociable gambling is not frowned upon.

Depending on when you come through, I might have a place for you to crash if so desired, with a Diamond 7 footer to play last pocket eight ball on.. :-D

Those old Red Label Diamonds have had the cushions replaced and play good. I like the room and go there when in the area.

If you go through Columbia, SC, the only 2 spots i'd recommend are Grady's and Jillians. Grady's is more of the classic smokey pool hall. Jillians is a nice bar with 10 tables scattered around.

North Carolina

For NC, Brass Tap Billiards in Raleigh should be on the list. Say hello to Cool Cat Ray Martin if he's in there. Definitely Grady's in Lexington SC ( I saw someone mention it). Jacksonville has a place called Park Avenue billiards, right across the street from a dog track. I got a "little black book" started on some players outta there. It's 24 hours and there are some higher level players that will stop in.
I really hope someday I can road trip it like you are! If you get hella lost and end up in SE Georgia, shoot me a PM and I'll buy you some beers and play ya cheap sets until you find some better action.

Does Ace still play there?
