Why are some cue makers so rude and have bad attitudes?

A cue maker on here offered to make me a shaft for a certain price (does the price matter?), and I kindly requested if he would make the shaft 12.3mm for me.

He then gets really nasty with me (accusing me of asking him to "bend over backwords for me").

I do not understand what the big deal is to make a request like that.

If a cue maker does not like the request that you are asking for, then I am sure there are much nicer ways to reply to that person.

He is not the 1st cue maker that I felt was rude and had a bad attitude (it has happened to me many times through email and over the phone in the past, but maybe I am just crazy in the way I get bothered too easily).

I just do not understand how these cue makers (with such bad attitudes) stay in business.

I just wanted to add that the cue maker that offered to build me a shaft (for a certain price) had a 0 itrader, so I was asking him a few little questions, like how long he has been making cues, and if he was known in his area (maybe these were bad questions to ask), and after he gives me some info about himself, he basically called the deal off (took back the offer that he made me). I just thought that he had a really bad attitude. What I hate the worse is when people try to sound nice and act professional, but you can tell that they are actually being pretty nasty. I do not know. Maybe I am just crazy. Sorry.

Call Andy Gilbert or Bob Owen. Two regular, nice people who just happen to be lights-out cue makers. Don't waste your time on the a-holes.

i don't know how to link but the answer to your question can be found in the ....about john showman with merry lane as the op.

see post # 47.

THIS REQUEST?

I would like to find a really good quality shaft (maybe by a known cue maker) for no more then $50 shipped.

I do not want anything with a short stiff hitting taper.

I like nice very long tapered shafts

Please let me know if you have something you would be willing to sell.

Needs to be for a 3/8x10 flat faced joint.

I do not really care about weight, but if you know the mm of your shaft, that would be helpful.

I am not picky about needing a certain mm shaft, or a certain weight in the shafts, but I just like it to be of very good quality, straight (fairly), and have a nice long taper.

Please also let me know the lowest amount of money you would be willing to sell your shaft for (including the cost of shipping to, Louisville, KY, 40216).

Thanks for any offers.

I wish you luck, if anyone offers you a Shaft to your specs, please specify the 12.3 mm up front.

Why are some customers over bearing and cheap?
Looks like there are two sides to this story after one maker took on a tough job for peanuts.
When did you decide to get it down to 12.3Mm? With a long taper at that.
12.3 and not 12.25?

I was just telling the cue maker the mm that I like in a shaft. I had no idea that I was asking him to "bend over backwords" in order to make a 12.3mm shaft for me. The only point that I was trying to make is that there are nicer ways of replying back to a person, and if you are not going to be nice, then I would rather a person not reply back at all. There is no need to get such a bad attitude over a request. It was a request, not a demand. He could have said something like "I am very sorry, but it is not worth my time and effort to turn one of my shafts down to 12.3mm for you" for that price, and if you want the shaft to be 12.3mm, then it will cost you x amount of dollars extra". People need to learn nicer ways of communicating. I wonder if they even know that they have nasty attitudes. People should treat others in the same way that they would want to be treated.

Sorry, I think he got fed up. He could have handled it better.
I am shocked someone even took the job.

I never asked anyone to make me a shaft for $50. The cue maker made the offer to me. I did not PM him. He sent me a PM with the offer.

Not Gilbert or Owen he suggested you call.
They should be in the $200 range now.

Do you think they'd want this business?

Please understand that I would never ask a cue maker to make me a shaft for any certain price. If I were to contact one of those cue makers, I would ask them how much they would charge to make me a 12.3mm shaft. I do not want to waste anyones time. I just do not like people that have bad attitudes. Is it too much to just be nice. Tell the person how much you would need to charge extra for the 12.3mm shaft, instead of getting a bad attitude about the request.

Call McDermott, see what they have in the realm of seconds. Should be $40 plus shipping.
