JB Cases $10,000 One Pocket Challenge Match

Not knocking Lou's action but

I really think Lou is an exceptional player and if John plays him even again he'll probably get beat again. Maybe John should ask for a little weight, bet Lou would give it to him.

Lou plays well. He won't give me any weight nor do I want it. As far as I am concerned IF I play like I did in the last match then I will certainly get beat.

But if I play like I really can then I think I win.

Of course I would need to rebuild my game back to where it was when I playing all the time. Now I couldn't win if you told me all I had to was drop a ball on the floor.

You might be right. I think you lost some games in the first set because you missed shots with open tables where you could have got four or five balls instead you didn't get any. Clean that up and you're right in the mix of things.

I probably can't find any because I played badly. That's not the point though. He is a good mover and it would be expected that it would take a much better player than me to trap him completely.

That said there are several instances in the match where he sold out so it wouldn't be fair to say that he always got out of the positions left to him successfully. He might well have known WHAT to do and simply not executed, I don't know.

The point for me though is that I dogged many opportunities throughout the match. I can play a lot more conservatively if I am focused on that.

Yes, it was kinda compelling in its own sick way.

Also, after having watched some MC and them guys pounding a few into the rails, maybe John and I didn't play so bad for two amateurs under intense conditions. One thing that I always find interesting is how folks view the match through different prisms. People's takes on how it went are all over the place.

Everywhere we went I had people talking to me about the match. I had people giving me advice, handing me training videos, offering to train with me. And all the while they were also talking cases, steering me to dealers and customers. It was great.

I wouldn't have done it if there wasn't a way for me to promote my business alongside the challenge.

But it still stung, I certainly don't cheerfully lose $10,000. I would have preferred to have won. But then I should have focused more on actually training and less on the "show".

Why Lou won't play again I just can't understand. Yoy gotta give a guy a shot at his money. That's hustling 101.

John has been told multiple times he can get a shot at his money: $10K, come and get it.

My crew and I flew out to NJ last time because that's where John wanted to play. Now, as the challenger, he can come to me. Instead, he now has this list of "nonnegotiable" demands which everyone knows he made because he knew I'd never accept -- not happenin'.

Hustling 101: $10,000, St. Louis, a shot at his dough.

I gotta really be in fighting shape though because even if I get marketing out of it I'd still like to win :-)

Lou will play but only for 10k. Which is fine if I ever feel like going to St. Louis to break even.
 
John...after looking at his and your last 2 posts you should just play. You guys can always play a third match down the road. If you know you are better than how you played the first time, you owe it to yourself. I'm sure you can lock up another 5 k in sidebets, with posted money. So in the end you are up 5k or down 25k....dam that number even hurts to type. Sometimes you gotta give the people what they want.

Yes I am sure that I can bet more than 10k in St. Louis. I will offer to play when I feel ready. Right now this isn't really on mind.

I'd have to go back and analyze it but I will say yes. I want to say that most of the time when I didn't flat sell out trying to play safe I actually beat Lou to the shot and thus I think I would have won enough games to win the match.

I lost a lot of games by missing shots and thus allowing opportunities.

I am trying to show you JB that you are not realistic in the analysis of your game. If you beat Lou to the shot most of the time, than you had to play some good safes to trap him.

You move like a bull in a china shop (that's fine china not a Chinese case making shop :) ) and your methods of safety play are elementary at best. Lou actually played terrible against you and no where near his speed. Obviously going from $50 sets to a $10,000 set effected his form. That is the ONLY thing you have going for you. I can't remember Lou running more than 4 balls in the match. That is no where near his skill level and in a match of this length, he would go 6 and out or 8 and out at least once.

Ok. Then match us up with a fair game and I will bet 10 with Lou and 20 more with everyone else.

We can simply bet on the side. Lou and I will go 8 but if I reach the number of balls I need before he gets to 8 I win that game.

I am happy to let you make the game as your analysis is probably dead on.

Feel free to tell me what I need for this to be a fair game.

Actually Lou ran 6 or 7 a few times after I sold out.

I did however beat Lou to the shot many times and failed to capitalize on it.
