If you don't like this matchup, you dom't like straight pool. These, in my estimation, are the two best 14.1 players in the world.

Slight edge to Hohmann because of his many World and European 14.1 titles, but this can go either way.

May the best of these two fine men win.

Thanks for the tease, Charlie. Now how do those of us who didn't get to see the match (nor hear the expert commentary) get to enjoy it and benefit from it? Via a DVD or Youtube upload perhaps?

I emailed dragon promotions to inquire a month ago and they said the DVDs would be available in December. It seems we will miss that mark, but at least they are in the works.
 
I spoke to Charlie a couple nights ago. Getting the videos from the Worlds out there is definitely on his radar, but not sure exactly when.

I think it will be worth the wait once it gets here. Lots of good commentary and pretty good play this year also.

But......................................

if not for them, there would be a ton of straight pool development, videos, experience for the top guys, that would never have happened.

The glass is AT LEAST half full. :D

I've had the good fortune to attend the summer gathering of the tribe at Steinway.
I enjoy it and am happy for the opportunity to see the game played at such a high level.

I, too have been to some of the annual gatherings. I usually find a good spot and get there before the doors open every day, and sit in my spot all day long, not wanting to miss anything. I can't stop smiling, all week long.:smile:
 
That sounds like my routine too.
If you make it to Steinway next year, I'll buy you a beer... you can drink half and then we'll discuss.
Before that...
I'm looking forward to the new spring tournament in Windsor Locks.
I'm interested to see what this all looks like under different leadership.

Not sure if the leadership is different. Mark Griffin who did the last US Open 14.1 is working with Kulungian on it. The fact that it is on the east coast may make it more attractive to top players as well as the fact that it is happening close to the Super Billiards Expo. Red Shoes is doing a qualifier.

We can cross our fingers and hope this draws great players and results in great matches and great video.

Well you can compare communication, results, videos, whatever, but I suspect the product in the Windsor one will be nothing compared to the World's. I could be wrong, but that would be a pleasant surprise.
 
Well, you said it not me.... Videos...? I think we've looped around. Isn't this where the thread started?
There is no video of the finals!
I'm not clear to me if you're saying Dragon does a good job or get a grip and lower your expectations for tournament pool production.
