I asked Joel one time if he ever had anyone drop off his list and he replied no but has had some one pass on.
 
Custom Cue

That's what Bryan(BCM) is doing. Once he finishes his current orders he will build and offer on his own schedule. Smart move by a great maker and nice guy.

I think this is the way I would go. No offense to those who know exactly what they want but it seems so much less stressful and customers may be more appreciative to just get a cue. It seems Bob Runde and Larry Vigus are doing quite well with this way of doing business.
 
On March 12th, he sent me a mail saying he's done with all the repairs and just need a couple of finishing touches to do which wont take long. Its been nearly two months and I haven't heard from him yet. :(

Don't feel bad. I've been waiting over 12 years from when I ordered my cue in his shop. I gave him a deposit on the Cue of $850.00. I have since stopped playing pool and have been waiting for my deposit refund for over 2 years now. In January he emailed me and said It would be taken care by the end of the month. GUESS WHAT? Still waiting on the deposit refund form Mr. Searing.
 
I thought that it was ironic that Mr. Searing had a phone attached to his head in the posted picture, if only he could activate the button on it that would "answer" the incoming calls.
 
What a piece of crap he is. Promised a couple of weeks and look at the date this thread started and still no cue.

We are not talking about getting on a waiting list and wait. OP sent the cue for a refinish. It is him that are making cue makers look bad.

I didnt feel bad. He insisted of me sending the cue to him. If hes gonna do it this way I could have someone else do it without a problem. But he kept telling me to send him the cue, and once he received it, he starts hiding.

I had a cue that I thought he might have made. I sent him an email asking the question. He sent me a return email in just over an hour. No money of mine - equals no ducking.
 
Here's what happened:
Before I sent the cue to Dennis, I contacted him(April 22nd 2014) and ask for price quote for refinish and new shafts. He responded right away and quoted me the price and told me it will be done and shipped back to me within 2-3weeks once he received the cue. So I shipped the cue on 26th April 2014 and paid $1075 via bank wire transfer to his account too.

He received the cue on the 1st of May. And he sent me an email on May 14th saying he received the cue and will send me pics of the choice of wraps once the cue is refinished.

From that on, he never responded. I sent him an email around July to asked for cue progress, I got no replies from him. I sent another this year on January, still never heard from him yet.

Does anyone know what happened to him? Or can any of his friends here help me get hold of him please, cause I tried texting, emailing, nothing works.

My relationship w/D goes back to the 90's. I know he can be very frustrating to deal with, but, i've NEVER heard of him having any issues of moral turpitude.

There is no doubt that he is aware of this thread and your justified chagrin...hang in, you'll be made whole.
 
Yeah, if he hasnt started the work then I'd rather he send my cue back and I'll have someone else do it.

Try calling on Saturday Tim and leave a message. Not making any excuses for anyone, but when I wanted to talk to Dennis that was a good day to call.
 
Enabling

This happens because of all the the people enabling him and others like him. I have a feeling a criminal complaint for fraud (which is exactly what the described actions are) with about a half dozen complainants would give this guy a very very quick attitude adjustment.

And probably send shock waves through the rest of the irresponsible portion of the cuemaker community To the benefit of the honest guys.

Due respect but unless these people are lying through their teeth this IS moral turpitude. Fraud bordering on Grand Theft.

Inducing people to use your service with a promise it will be ready in x weeks and not getting it back in x years? Misrepresentation.

Incompetence in running his business (no matter how great he is as a cuemaker) is about the best construction one can put on the stories shared here. But there comes a point where business incompetence is no longer a justification for acts that, in any other context, would be recognized as fraudulent. And it sounds like that point is in the rearview mirror.
 
Wow, I've been tied up with work and issues at home for the last year or more so I haven't had much time to shoot pool or visit this board. I've known and called myself a friend to Dennis since the 90's. Hell I've spent countless days at his shop and watched him work hours and hours on others cues. I can tell you personally I've had a set of cues ordered for over 10 years and I'm still waiting. He's got a long list and I myself haven't come up yet but I'm closer.

He's always been nothing but a stand up guy in my eyes so I'm shocked to read this. His ocd for detail and perfection absolutely slows him down as do all the walk in quick repairs which are almost constant. I've no doubt that he'll do right by you even if it means refunding your payment. Personally I know he's had a couple health issues which he's recovering from in the last year or two and has had to take a lot of time off. None of us are getting any younger and well life and health sometimes gets in our way.

Again I'm sure he'll do all that he can to make right by you as much as possible.

Well I hope whatever you say is right. I can understand if orders are delayed. If u do not have time for that dont tell me to send the cue for u to repair. And if u have any health issues or anything that happen in between, at least keep me informed of what happened or at least reply to all my emails/texts. I'm not the unreasonable kind of guy, I can cut him slack if he respond and tell me what happened and not just disappear and only reply one text when I bump this thread and disappear again.

Thanks. I'll hope everything will turn out like you said. And he told me he just sent me a text and said he needs to put on the last coat on the finish and wrap and the cue's good to go very soon. Let's see how long he needs to get that done then.
