A few Derby observations

I looked around and could not find the AZB room. In fact, on the sign upstairs, the AZB had been crossed out

I remember the AZ room back in the ex west days and it was kind of cool just never really seemed to take off imo. I think there are a ton of AZers at DCC each year and it could be an awesome thing if ran right but I also understand real estate at the shoe is pricy and there is not a lot to go around.

Casinos are illegal in Kentucky. The Horseshoe exists because of Indiana law allowing it on riverboats. Its why the casino is on the Indiana side of the river.

Kentucky, from which I hail, is home to beautiful horses and fast women...and you can burn all of your money on either one.

Also bourbon. There are more barrels of bourbon than there are people and horses in Kentucky. I was told that recently while doing part of the Bourbon Trail.

Couple of things. Chinese place was gone. The place was noticeably in worse condition than last year. Our Beds were both wore out and sunken in the middle. There was no security guard at the hotel like last year. Fire alarms kept going off in the hotel and conference area. After the third time when it went off at 7:00 am if there was a fire we all would have probably ignored it and burned up...lol

I was there Thursday to Wednesday. It was my fourth year and I'll never miss it (I hope). If you are a pool fan you MUST get there at least once. Aside from missing the Chinese place, it was awesome! More action and good pool than you can handle.

Well, that was true before this past weekend. I had a party...;)

I lived in the region when all the casino legislation was going on. It was retarded. First it had to be on boat and the boat had to actually leave the dock. Then later the boat could stay docked. Now they are about everywhere. States do love that tax money.

I worked with a guy who made a killing selling some land to one of the first ones in Indiana.

About how many tables are there at DCC??

Seems like they can go thru a huge field much faster than some of these other tournaments that gets drawn out for nearly a week.

Well earlier in the week that TVMike was streaming banks matches that were shown as being table 41 & 42. So there are at least that many.
