Could anyone get hold of Dennis Searing?

YOU know that this is just a "dig" at Dennis due to your "analysis" of whats transpired in this thread and others. The fact is if you are going to say "amazing talent" in front of ANY cue makers name, Dennis would be one that truly qualifies... For those that may "reject" it or even think he's "overrated", well that's just ignorance, jealousy, or personal feeling and has nothing to due with fact.....

Timothy, I hope you get you cue back SOON!!... I think you will

Dennis is the best under a microscope, his design and artistry are underwhelming. His cues do play great, but a lot of cues play great. I'm using a custom Schmelke sneaky pete that, in all seriousness, plays as good as anything.

It really doesn't matter how talented someone is if their word is crap. A man is only as good as his word.
Showman
Zinzola
Gracio
Now Searing

All talented, none good to their word equals a waste of time & $.
As PT 109 said, aftermarket only, at least you'll get the darn thing.

I wouldn't put up with the crap you guys do with these builders. I'd be on a plane & banging on their door. They may be able to fade emails & phone calls, bet they wouldn't fade a 6' 225 lb Tush Hog demanding their cue face to face. Sound extreme? Sometimes life's extreme.

Actually, it isn't.

It is a mere suspicion, and it isn't just based on what I have read here. I have passed no judgement as I have not dealt with him myself.

I don't think he's overrated....I've hit with some and they are magic.

Magic? OK. This is an example of why I suspect that people are overrating something.

But that's just me.

I have no doubt his cues play well and are well built. I do not and have not questioned that. That there might be any magic in them is highly suspect. But I am quite happy to admit that people can believe what they like. :)

I can't believe he has the time to play a tournament. He told me about his health issues and how much he is behind and needs to work on everything so he will be very busy.

And also when he still replies my text. I told him that I'd want all updates of any progress whatsoever and if he got any issues or delays he should let me know. He agreed, but all his texts are the cue looks great and its near done and how soon he is going to ship or pack it but nothing was ever done.

Could u try to get a hold of Dennis again? The last time u did he texted back.

With all due respect.... What Dennis does with his time is his business.

Would you feel the same if it was your $, cue on the line & the guy had been yanking you around & lying to you at best & flat ignoring you at worst? Yeeeaaahh, I thought not.

Sure they can but RELYING and POSTURING on "belief" alone is more the open door that exposes ones ignorance....

Interesting.

So the belief in magic in the cues?.......In any cues?

Belief? Posturing?

Oh, wait...I live in Florida......hmmmm. On might suppose suppose it's possible my opinions are not formed primarily by what I see in this thread or on the internet in general. My sister lives in Cocoa, and I was in Palm Bay last weekend. It certainly isn't possible that anybody down here knows him.

Ignorance, eh?

Interesting.

I think I need to stand by my suspicions at the moment. If it quacks like a duck and walks like a duck...it's a duck.

That one might not like that is irrelevant.

My comment was about those who base their judgement on BELIEF alone...

Anyone who "believes" Dennis's cues are anything but extraordinary IS ignorant to his work... Even for those who has first hand knowledge of his work the same is true... THAT is what's relevant.

Which has NOTHING to do with Timothy's situation...

damm tim still haven't got the cue yet huh...unbelieveable...and people wonder why the cue market is going down hill...GOOD LUCK timmy

I'd favor him in that field too, if he's been playing. He plays too conservatively and shoots too straight for those guys, if he's in 75% stroke I would say he wins it without too much strain.

But the real story is your situation Mr. Soong, I really hope that you're able to get a response from him before he goes to this event. If I remember correctly I actually asked him to make a cue for me and he put my name in his composition book at the Super Billiards Expo one year, it has to have been 2005 or so ha ha.

Dennis works as much or more than anyone I know.

That's crap

What? Work on ducking people, and lying to people when they pay
up front. Some people on this form know I have some really nice cues
but I will never but a Searing in my collection.
To me any man who treats another individual this way has no honor
and doesn't care what others think of his reputation.

Sorry this has happen to you Tim, but Mr. Searing doesn't respect you,
hell I doubt he even respects himself. Hope this issue gets resolved quickly.

I think it might. In fact I know it does. And I don't even have to type it in caps to be comfortably confident in that knowledge. Knowledge...not mere belief.

My daughter is 20, she's been working on cleaning her room since she was 12. It has never been done, yet she often tells me "I cleaned up my room." I know how I judge the quality of her work.

I know an A/C repairman. He actually has an engineering degree and left academia to go into the trades. I can't call him. Why? He likely knows more than any A/C repairman on the planet and technically his work is excellent. Everything he does is to the highest specification, correct, and with the best parts only. But his work sucks. Why? Because he does it ten times slower than the next guy so I will sit here sweating my balls off waiting for his excellent work.

A cue will not be excellent, won't help you win, will not work as a tool at the casual, amateur, or pro level if you do not have it in your hands. It is sheer impossibility.

I use some of the same ideas when judging the quality of the work I do for my clients, and I know for certain they measure my work in part the same way. If it isn't done the quality of the work sucks. Period. And even if you type in caps it isn't arguable. No leg to stand on.

But you put it in caps, so possibly louder is more right? :(

Ah, well. Have fun with it.

He was looking for somebody local to help him I believe, or at least "to get hold of him". That is in the title of the post.

But I have been informed that's irrelevant too. In caps.

So, I guess I'll move along. Have a great evening! :)

Here's the difference... ANYBODY (All in caps... I know you lke that) can do the work your "AC repairman" can do. It takes absolutely no extraordinary "talent" to do that work. I came from a similar background and understand what talent is required....Cue making, well thats a different story.. You, making your argument using the comparison of the two is reaching at best and doesn't address my comments in any way.... Great is Great regardless the road to it... My only point was Dennis's work is what it is regardless of anything else... Enjoy your evening as well!

Finally! I got hold of Dennis and he did a great job making it right. And I got my cue today! Thanks guys! Glad I got back my cue! lol
